This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Lately it seems as though the frequency of things that piss me off has picked up the pace. It is not just what is happening in the political scene either. Seems like what is going on in society as well is all designed with one purpose in mind…TO PISS ME OFF. Combine them and toss in the fact that I am grumpy due to the inability to use my right arm and it seems I am in a constant state of pissed off-edness.
Have you ever watched a drain empty out in your sink or bathtub. As the water level get’s lower and lower the speed at which it circles the drain increases until the water is all gone. With each passing day I see more and more occurring that makes me wonder if the end is coming soon. I know the Bible tells us “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” (Matthew 24:36 KJV) But the Bible also gives us a whole list of signs and prophesies that must come to pass before the end comes. It seems like with increasing frequency more and more of these signs are coming to pass. There are the increasing changes in weather and the natural disasters that occur on a more regular basis than ever before. And for those of you who say these are all manmade disasters caused by either sinister men who use chemtrails and HAARP to control the weather, or that they are due to man’s causing climate change due to our carbon footprint, I have but one thing to say to you; God does not tell us HOW these things will occur, only that they will.
Then we had that whole fiasco with Bruce Jenner and our country’s fascination as he underwent the process of changing from a man into a woman. And just recently we saw this; the Supreme Court ruled that no state can ban same sex marriage. Not only that, but their ruling leaves it wide open as to the interpretation of what marriage is. The loophole and leeway may exist so that someone might marry their pet, their children even. Is nothing sacred any more? This past week a friend of mine said, we are going to hell in a handbasket. I replied, “No, we’re not in a handbasket, we are free falling.”
Recently I posted a couple rants about the uproar over the Confederate Flag, and now I’m confronted with this absurdity. It seems like they are trying their best to reshape and redefine what America stands for and believes in. It seems that everything that is/was good about this country has come under attack and political revisionists are trying to replace what really happened in history with their politically correct anything goes version of what made America, and the beliefs and values this country holds.
Well I for one won’t stand for this bullshit any longer! You can take your political correctness, your revisionist history, and stick it where the sun don’t shine! I will not sit back and remain silent while I watch people erase its history, or rewrite it to suit their oversensitive consciences. I will not sit back while I watch everything our country stood for turned into something that is deemed inappropriate of offensive. I WILL NOT!
I know there are many out there possibly reading this who do not believe in God. That is fine, it is not my place to force you into believing something you choose not to. But you cannot deny that this nation was founded by men who did believe in God…fervently. You cannot alter history simply because what really happened disagrees with your personal beliefs. So whether you believe in God or not is irrelevant, our nation’s Founders did. I’m not saying they wrote religious doctrine into our Founding documents, but their beliefs played a big role in how they acted in their professional lives, and therefore played a major role in the system of government they were to establish.
From the very beginning the people who came to America were devout Christians. When the Pilgrims first came to Plymouth Massachusetts the first governing document written upon American soil was the Mayflower Compact, which begins by saying, “IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. We, whose names are underwritten, the Loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &c. Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the first Colony in the northern Parts of Virginia; Do by these Presents, solemnly and mutually, in the Presence of God and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick, for our better Ordering and Preservation, and Furtherance of the Ends aforesaid: And by Virtue hereof do enact, constitute, and frame, such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions, and Officers, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general Good of the Colony…”
Patrick Henry was so adamant in his belief that we are/were a Christian nation that he declared, “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.”
George Washington also wrote, “I am sure that there never was a people, who had more reason to acknowledge a Divine interposition in their affairs, than those of the United States; and I should be pained to believe that they have forgotten that agency, which was so often manifested during our Revolution, or that they failed to consider the omnipotence of that God who is alone able to protect them.”
Even Thomas Jefferson writes, “God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure if we have removed their only firm basis: a conviction in the minds of men that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever.”
Years after our Constitution was put into action and our federal government firmly established the United States Supreme Court ruled on two cases that bear consideration in these times of troubling events. The first came in the 1844 case of Vidal v. Girard’s Educators when the Court ruled, “Why may not the Bible, and especially the New Testament, without note or comment, be read and taught as a divine revelation in [schools] – its general precepts expounded, its evidences explained and its glorious principles morality inculcated? … Where can the purest principles of morality be learned so clearly or so perfectly as from the New Testament?”
Then, almost half a century later, the Court once again ruled, “Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian…this is a Christian nation.”
Just this past week that same Supreme Court ruled that the individual states cannot ban same sex marriages. By this ruling they are telling us that we the people must accept homosexuality as normal and acceptable behavior. They are saying we must tolerate their lifestyles, but they do not have to tolerate ours.
Before I take one step further there is something I need to make absolutely clear, I do not hate people who are homosexual. God tells us to love all, even our enemies. But He also tells us to hate sin, and homosexuality is a sin. I do not have to hate anyone because of the choices they make in life, even though I may not agree with those choices. It is not my place to judge, that rests solely with God. Yet you cannot force me to accept as normal what I know to be wrong. And by this ruling the Supreme Court is telling the states that they cannot choose to ban the commission of things that the majority of the people believe to be a sin.
The Bible tells us that homosexuality is a sin, both in the Old Testament and the New Testament; Leviticus 20:13 states, “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination…”
And if ever there was a Scripture which describes the America we live in today it would be found in Romans 1, where it says, “ Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” (Romans 1:22-32)
Why is it that Christians and Christian values are under attack? We are told we cannot discriminate against Muslims and their religious beliefs such as Shariah Law and Halal standards for their food. Yet where is the respect for our beliefs? I would like to see a gay couple demand that they be allowed to have a same sex marriage in a Mosque in Dearborn Michigan, (one of the largest Muslim communities in the U.S.) and then see if the Supreme Court rules that the Muslims must tolerate it like they tell us Christians to. How much you wanna bet they would not? That is because it IS Christianity that is under attack. All the values and beliefs which were held by our Founders are now deemed politically incorrect and every effort possible is being made to erase them from our consciousness and our history books.
Now I know that in a true free society the majority cannot oppress a minority. If the gay community wishes that they be granted the right to marry it is not within our power to deny them that right. But I AM SAYING that just because a minority chooses to do something does not make it morally right, and God will hold both those who commit these crimes against His law accountable, as well as those who aid and assist them in the commission of these sins against His law. If you support the Courts decision or side with those who want the right to marry someone of the same sex you have taken a side against the laws that God has asked us to obey. You can’t call yourself a Christian and then support same sex marriage. And, as far as that goes you cannot call yourself a Christian and support a woman’s right to choose an abortion either.
Not only that, if you believe, as did Jefferson, that our rights come from God, you cannot call yourself a Christian and sit back idly while our government expands its powers and violates our rights on a daily basis…YOU SIMPLY CAN’T!
If you have ever seen any document produced by the United States government, or even seen the symbol upon the podium when the president gives his speeches, you will have seen the Great Seal of the United States. I’ll bet you never even stopped to think about the history of that Seal.
On the very same day that the delegates declared their independence from Britain a committee was formed to design a Seal, or national emblem for the country. The first committee consisted of Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams. Franklin chose a scene from Exodus with Moses standing over the Red Sea causing it to close in upon Pharaoh surrounded by the words, “Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God.” Although Franklin’s design never made it onto the official seal we see today, it impressed Jefferson enough that he made it his own personal official seal.
Today in America, not only have we forsaken the teachings and laws found within Scripture, we have also forgotten what liberty and freedom truly mean. We have allowed our government to violate our rights to the extent where we are no longer free men. As Christians how is it that you tolerate this without standing up for your rights and liberty?
I constantly see these stickers affixed to vehicles which say God Bless America. Why should He when America has forsaken Him? I hear people who profess to be Christian state that they are simply awaiting the return of Jesus to establish His Kingdom upon the Earth. So instead of standing up for what is right, instead of fighting to retain their liberty, instead of crying out with loud voices against all that is wrong in America today they choose to sit back and wait until Jesus comes back to establish His Kingdom.
Can they honestly believe that their faith alone in Jesus is going to ensure their entrance into His Kingdom? In the Book of Revelations, Chapter 20 we read, “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”
Do you think Christ will allow you into His Kingdom when you sat back and simply awaited His return without standing up for the blessings of liberty bequeathed to you by our Founding Fathers? Do you think He will allow you into His Kingdom when you remained silent when all manner of sin is being accepted as normal behavior? In the Book of James, Chapter 2, we read, “What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?” No, if you call yourself a Christian you NEED to take a stand. You NEED to make it clear where you stand and make it known that you will not back down from your beliefs. That is how this country got to the point it is today, because apathetic and complacent people sat back and did nothing while our country fell apart around them. As the quote states, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of Evil is that good men do nothing.” (Edmund Burke)
Like I said, I just laugh when I see those stickers saying God Bless America. There is also a saying that says God Helps Those Who Help Themselves. Maybe God would bless America again IF we got off our butts and took the first step towards regaining what we have lost. But as long as you sit back and do nothing I don’t think God will intervene, and when He does it will be too late and people will be judged according to their works and deeds.
If you are too embarrassed to take a stand, to voice your opinion because it is politically incorrect to do so, I suggest you think about something Christ said, “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my father.” (Matthew 10:33)
In Revelations 20 it states, “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”
Our country was founded by men who held very strong beliefs; both religious and regarding liberty and freedom. As Washington said, you cannot deny the divine hand that played its part in establishing a country such as ours with our liberty and freedom so perfectly protected by the documents which created our government. All it would have taken to work was for the people to continue to adhere to the same belief system as the men who established it. That is all.
But no, we have perverted it, just like our churches today pervert what Christ wanted for his church. Their tax exempt status makes them wary to rock the boat lest they lose it and forfeit all that money they collect. God said you cannot serve both God and mammon. If the churches are that concerned with being politically correct and protecting their revenue streams, then they are not teaching the word of God and you should not associate yourselves with them.
If you call yourself a Christian and you do not concern yourself with what is happening in America; both on the political landscape and with society, then I question your willingness to truly stand up for what you say you believe in. As the old saying goes, “Put your money where your mouth is.”
As Samuel Adams said in 1749, “[N]either the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt.” If you truly want God to bless the USA then maybe you had better change your ways and start deserving what you ask of Him first.
