He has now been listed on the website of the international law enforcement agency as “wanted”.

Iceland’s special prosecutor issued an international arrest warrant for Mr Einarsson yesterday, with a description of him as 1.8m tall, 114kg in weight, bald and with blue eyes.

According to Icelandic media reports, he has told the prosecutor’s team that he is willing to return to his home country to help with their enquiries on the condition that he is not arrested on arrival.

His former co-chief executive, Hreidar Mar Sigurdsson, was arrested last week on suspicion of falsifying documents and market manipulation. He is still in police custody.

Kaupthing’s collapse in October 2008 cost the British Treasury £2.5bn and hundreds of UK savers with its Isle of Man branch are still waiting to be fully compensated. Both he and Mr Einarsson have previously denied any wrongdoing over Kaupthing’s collapse.

The bank’s actions are under investigation by the UK Serious Fraud Office and a special inquiry team in Iceland over claims of share ramping and big loans to related parties.

Iceland’s special prosecutor is looking into more than 20 cases of potential criminal activity connected to Kaupthing and the country’s other failed banks.

A special report by Iceland’s parliament showed Kaupthing secretly owned almost half of its own shares.

Two-thirds of Kaupthing’s clients were based in London, including high-profile investors such as Robert Tchenguiz, Simon Halabi and the Candy Brothers, who all lost substantial sums in the crash.

After Kaupthing’s loan book was leaked on to the internet last August, it showed key shareholders and owners were the bank’s main borrowers. Mr Tchenguiz, who was a director of Kaupthing’s largest shareholder, had the biggest debt of €1.74bn.

Following the disclosure, Mr Sigurdsson defended the bank’s practices but made a public apology. “Mistakes were made,” he said. “I’m obliged to offer my apologies to the bank’s shareholders, lenders and employees. I should have prepared the bank better for the storm that hit it.”

It has been a revolution without weapons in Iceland, the country that hosts the world’s oldest democracy (since 930), and whose citizens have managed to effect change by going on demonstrations and banging pots and pans. Why have the rest of the Western countries not even heard about it?

Pressure from Icelandic citizens’ has managed not only to bring down a government, but also begin the drafting of a new constitution (in process) and is seeking to put in jail those bankers responsible for the financial crisis in the country.

As the saying goes, if you ask for things politely it is much easier to get them. This quiet revolutionary process has its origins in 2008 when the Icelandic government decided to nationalise the three largest banks, Landsbanki, Kaupthing and Glitnir, whose clients were mainly British, and North and South American.

After the State took over, the official currency (krona) plummeted and the stock market suspended its activity after a 76% collapse. Iceland was becoming bankrupt and to save the situation, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) injected U.S. $ 2,100 million and the Nordic countries helped with another 2,500 million.

While banks and local and foreign authorities were desperately seeking economic solutions, the Icelandic people took to the streets and their persistent daily demonstrations outside parliament in Reykjavik prompted the resignation of the conservative Prime Minister Geir H. Haarde and his entire government. Citizens demanded, in addition, to convene early elections, and they succeeded.

In April a coalition government was elected, formed by the Social Democratic Alliance and the Left Green Movement, headed by a new Prime Minister, Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir.

Throughout 2009 the Icelandic economy continued to be in a precarious situation (at the end of the year the GDP had dropped by 7%) but, despite this, the Parliament proposed to repay the debt to Britain and the Netherlands with a payment of 3,500 million Euros, a sum to be paid every month by Icelandic families for 15 years at 5.5% interest.

The move sparked anger again in the Icelanders, who returned to the streets demanding that, at least, that decision was put to a referendum. Another big small victory for the street protests: in March 2010 that vote was held and an overwhelming 93% of the population refused to repay the debt, at least with those conditions.

This forced the creditors to rethink the deal and improve it, offering 3% interest and payment over 37 years. Not even that was enough. The current president, on seeing that Parliament approved the agreement by a narrow margin, decided last month not to approve it and to call on the Icelandic people to vote in a referendum so that they would have the last word.

The bankers are fleeing in fear Returning to the tense situation in 2010, while the Icelanders were refusing to pay a debt incurred by financial sharks without consultation, the coalition government had launched an investigation to determine legal responsibilities for the fatal economic crisis and had already arrested several bankers and top executives closely linked to high risk operations.

Interpol, meanwhile, had issued an international arrest warrant against Sigurdur Einarsson, former president of one of the banks. This situation led scared bankers and executives to leave the country en masse.

In this context of crisis, an assembly was elected to draft a new constitution that would reflect the lessons learned and replace the current one, inspired by the Danish constitution. To do this, instead of calling experts and politicians, Iceland decided to appeal directly to the people, after all they have sovereign power over the law.

More than 500 Icelanders presented themselves as candidates to ­participate in this exercise in direct democracy and write a new constitution. 25 of them, without party affiliations, including lawyers, students, journalists, farmers and trade union representatives were elected.

The people, for once, will decide the future of the country while bankers and politicians witness the transformation of a nation from the sidelines.

What was striking about this year’s State of the Union address was not the sheer arrogance of the president’s remarks, the staged nature of the proceedings and interactions, or the predictable posturing of the rebuttals, but the extent to which the members of the various branches of government—President Obama, Congress, the Supreme Court, and the assorted government agencies—are just one big, brawling, noisy, semi-incestuous clan.

Watching these bureaucrats, both elected and appointed, interact in the unguarded moments before the event, with their hugging and kissing and nudging and joking and hobnobbing and general high spirits, I was reminded anew that these people—Republicans and Democrats alike—are united in a common goal, and it is not to protect and defend the Constitution. No, as Orwell recognized in Animal Farm, their common goal is to maintain the status quo, a goal that is helped along by an unquestioning, easily mollified, corporate media. In this way, the carefully crafted spectacle that is the State of the Union address is just that: an exaggerated farce of political theater intended to dazzle, distract and divide us, all the while the police state marches steadily forward.

No matter what the president and his cohorts say or how convincingly they say it, the reality Americans must contend with is that the world is no better the day after President Obama’s State of the Union address than it was the day before. Indeed, if the following rundown on the actual state of our freedoms is anything to go by, the world is a far more dangerous place.

Americans have no protection against police abuse. It is no longer unusual to hear about incidents in which police shoot unarmed individuals first and ask questions later, such as the 16-year-old teenager who skipped school only to be shot by police after they mistook him for a fleeing burglar. Then there was the unarmed black man in Texas “who was pursued and shot in the back of the neck by Austin Police… after failing to properly identify himself and leaving the scene of an unrelated incident.” And who could forget the 19-year-old Seattle woman who was accidentally shot in the leg by police after she refused to show her hands? What is increasingly common, however, is the news that the officers involved in these incidents get off with little more than a slap on the hands.

Americans are little more than pocketbooks to fund the police state. If there is any absolute maxim by which the federal government seems to operate, it is that the American taxpayer always gets ripped off. This is true, whether you’re talking about taxpayers being forced to fund high-priced weaponry that will be used against us, endless wars that do little for our safety or our freedoms, or bloated government agencies such as the National Security Agency with its secret budgets, covert agendas and clandestine activities. Rubbing salt in the wound, even monetary awards in lawsuits against government officials who are found guilty of wrongdoing are paid by the taxpayer.

Americans are no longer innocent until proven guilty. We once operated under the assumption that you were innocent until proven guilty. Due in large part to rapid advances in technology and a heightened surveillance culture, the burden of proof has been shifted so that the right to be considered innocent until proven guilty has been usurped by a new norm in which all citizens are suspects. This is exemplified by police practices of stopping and frisking people who are merely walking down the street and where there is no evidence of wrongdoing. Likewise, by subjecting Americans to full-body scans and license-plate readers without their knowledge or compliance and then storing the scans for later use, the government—in cahoots with the corporate state—has erected the ultimate suspect society. In such an environment, we are all potentially guilty of some wrongdoing or other.

Americans no longer have a right to self-defense. In the wake of various shootings in recent years, “gun control” has become a resounding theme for government officials, with President Obama even going so far as to pledge to reduce gun violence “with or without Congress.” Those advocating gun reform see the Second Amendment’s right to bear arms as applying only to government officials. As a result, even Americans who legally own firearms are being treated with suspicion and, in some cases, undue violence. In one case, a Texas man had his home subjected to a no-knock raid and was shot in his bed after police, attempting to deliver a routine search warrant, learned that he was in legal possession of a firearm. In another incident, a Florida man who was licensed to carry a concealed firearm found himself detained for two hours during a routine traffic stop in Maryland while the arresting officer searched his vehicle in vain for the man’s gun, which he had left at home.

Americans no longer have a right to private property. If government agents can invade your home, break down your doors, kill your dog, damage your furnishings and terrorize your family, your property is no longer private and secure—it belongs to the government. Likewise, if government officials can fine and arrest you for growing vegetables in your front yard, praying with friends in your living room, installing solar panels on your roof, and raising chickens in your backyard, you’re no longer the owner of your property.

Americans no longer have a say about what their children are exposed to in school. Incredibly, the government continues to insist that parents essentially forfeit their rights when they send their children to a public school. This growing tension over whether young people, especially those in the public schools, are essentially wards of the state, to do with as government officials deem appropriate, in defiance of the children’s constitutional rights and those of their parents, is reflected in the debate over sex education programs that expose young people to all manner of sexual practices and terminology, zero tolerance policies that strip students of any due process rights, let alone parental involvement in school discipline, and Common Core programs that teach students to be test-takers rather than critical thinkers.

Americans are powerless in the face of militarized police. In early America, citizens were considered equals with law enforcement officials. Authorities were rarely permitted to enter one’s home without permission or in a deceitful manner. And it was not uncommon for police officers to be held personally liable for trespass when they wrongfully invaded a citizen’s home. Unlike today, early Americans could resist arrest when a police officer tried to restrain them without proper justification or a warrant—which the police had to allow citizens to read before arresting them. (Daring to dispute a warrant with a police official today who is armed with high-tech military weapons and tasers would be nothing short of suicidal.) As police forces across the country continue to be transformed into outposts of the military, with police agencies acquiring military-grade hardware in droves, Americans are finding their once-peaceful communities transformed into military outposts, complete with tanks, weaponry, and other equipment designed for the battlefield.

Americans no longer have a right to bodily integrity. Court rulings undermining the Fourth Amendment and justifying invasive strip searches have left us powerless against police empowered to forcefully draw our blood, strip search us, and probe us intimately. Accounts are on the rise of individuals—men and women—being subjected to what is essentially government-sanctioned rape by police in the course of “routine” traffic stops. Most recently, a New Mexico man was subjected to a 12-hour ordeal of anal probes, X-rays, enemas, and finally a colonoscopy because he allegedly rolled through a stop sign.

Americans no longer have a right to the expectation of privacy. Despite the staggering number of revelations about government spying on Americans’ phone calls, Facebook posts, Twitter tweets, Google searches, emails, bookstore and grocery purchases, bank statements, commuter toll records, etc., Congress, the president and the courts have done little to nothing to counteract these abuses. Instead, they seem determined to accustom us to life in this electronic concentration camp.

Americans no longer have a representative government. We have moved beyond the era of representative government and entered a new age, let’s call it the age of authoritarianism. History may show that from this point forward, we will have left behind any semblance of constitutional government and entered into a militaristic state where all citizens are suspects and security trumps freedom. Even with its constantly shifting terrain, this topsy-turvy travesty of law and government has become America’s new normal. It is not overstating matters to say that Congress, which has done its best to keep their unhappy constituents at a distance, may well be the most self-serving, semi-corrupt institution in America.

Americans can no longer rely on the courts to mete out justice. The U.S. Supreme Court was intended to be an institution established to intervene and protect the people against the government and its agents when they overstep their bounds. Yet through their deference to police power, preference for security over freedom, and evisceration of our most basic rights for the sake of order and expediency, the justices of the Supreme Court have become the architects of the American police state in which we now live, while the lower courts have appointed themselves courts of order, concerned primarily with advancing the government’s agenda, no matter how unjust or illegal.

Yes, the world is a far more dangerous place than it was a year ago. What the president failed to mention in his State of the Union address, however (and what I document in my book A Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State), is the fact that it’s the government that poses the gravest threat to our freedoms and way of life, and no amount of politicking, parsing or pandering will change that.

Verizon struck the final blow against Net Neutrality when a federal appeals court ruled in its favor and struck down the Federal Communications Commission’s Open Internet Order.

The petition to FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler reads:

“At the behest of Verizon, a federal appellate court struck down the FCC’s Open Internet Order and internet providers are now free to discriminate – block or slow down – any web site or application they choose. As the new FCC Chair you must reclassify broadband Internet access as a telecommunications service and save Net Neutrality.”

Verizon killed Net Neutrality when a federal appeals court ruled in its favor and struck down the Federal Communications Commission’s Open Internet Order.1

Net Neutrality is a principle that says that Internet users, not Internet service providers (ISPs), should be in control. It ensures that Internet service providers can’t speed up, slow down, or block web content based on its source, ownership, or destination.

And now Net Neutrality is dead – at least until the FCC stands up to Verizon and AT&T and passes strong rules that will pass the legal test for ensuring Americans have access to a free and open Internet.

The verdict was a disappointment but came as no surprise. Back in 2010, the FCC, led by Obama-appointee Julius Genachowski, voted to adopt rules that enshrined in federal regulations for the first time the ability of AT&T, Comcast, Verizon and other ISPs to discriminate between sources and types of content.

Now even those meager protections have been struck down. But the new chair of the FCC, Tom Wheeler, can save Net Neutrality by doing what former FCC chair Genachowski failed to do. He can stand up to Verizon and AT&T, and undo the Bush-era decision to deregulate broadband Internet providers and allow them to operate outside of the legal framework that has traditionally applied to companies that offer two-way communication services.

Back in 2010, this latest court decision was utterly predictable. A federal court had already ruled that unless the FCC reversed the Bush-era decision to deregulate broadband, the FCC couldn’t enforce Net Neutrality rules. Then FCC Chair Genachowski tested the waters with a proposal to reregulate (or in the jargon of the FCC “reclassify”) broadband. Genachowski himself said that, according to the FCC General Counsel, pushing ahead with policies without reregulating broadband would be unwise given the tenuous legal footing the FCC would find itself in.

But Obama administration’s support for Net Neutrality was so weak that his FCC declined to reclassify broadband as a prerequisite to passing Net Neutrality rules. Without providing this legal framework, the Open Internet Order was never anything more than a cynical ploy by Democrats to claim a victory on Net Neutrality while actually caving on real protections for consumers.

New FCC chair Tom Wheeler has a chance to change this. He recently made a strong statement in support of Net Neutrality and the necessary legal framework to defend it, saying that “it is essential that the FCC continue to maintain an open Internet and maintain the legal ability to intervene promptly and effectively in the event of aggravated circumstances.”

But it’s unclear if he’ll simply kick the can down the road by appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court (a body that, with the outrageous Citizens United decision, has already proved itself more loyal to corporate control than to protecting our democracy). We need him to muster the political will to take action immediately and save Net Neutrality by reversing the deregulation of broadband and giving teeth to the FCC’s ability to enforce Net Neutrality rules and force Internet service providers to treat all traffic equally.

The first of the job and sovereignty killing treaties so innocently called an agreement was NAFTA. Official title: North American Free Trade Agreement. In reality: No American Factories Taking Applications. That unconstitutional tool of the global elite was pushed through by globalist Newt Gingrich with enormous help from Rush Limbaugh. Marxist Bill Clinton signed it into “law” in December 1993. Then began the massive destruction of the three job sectors that made America the most prosperous nation on the face of this earth: manufacturing, industrial and agriculture.

A bill was introduced in 2011 to finally get us out. It got zero attention from the old media. Forget FOX. Too many Americans pay little to no attention to bills sitting in the biggest whore house on the planet- except for hot button issues like abortion; it went no where. There were too few of us to make it happen.

“NAFTA has done way too much damage, and we need to repeal it. NAFTA has cost too many jobs, eroded our industrial base and decimated towns and communities,” he said in a statement. “Enough is enough – we need to focus on creating jobs right here in the United States – not in foreign countries.”

“The bill currently has just 10 co-sponsors: Democratic Reps. Joe Baca, Lynn Woolsey and Bob Filner of California; Michael Capuano (MA), Peter DeFazio (OR), Marcy Kaptur (OH), Larry Kissell (NC) and Michael Michaud (ME). Two Republicans are also backing the legislation: Texas’ Ron Paul and North Carolina’s Walter Jones. The bill has been referred to the House Ways and Means Committee, but no action has been taken on it since that time.

“Prior to the implementation of NAFTA, the U.S. held a small trade surplus with Mexico of approximately $10 million. By 2007, that surplus had turned into an astounding $91 billion trade deficit. With Canada and Mexico combined, the U.S. has taken a $24 billion trade deficit prior to NAFTA and turned it into a $190 billion deficit – a 691 percent increase.

“NAFTA was also supposed to usher in a new age of prosperity among the American people as thousands upon thousands of good-paying jobs were to be created through the increase in trade surplus that never quite came to fruition. As you can imagine, just the opposite happened. Each and every year more and more jobs are outsourced to Mexico where labor is incredibly cheap and environmental concerns are a mere afterthought. The raft of jobs outsourced to Mexico forced American workers into direct competition with one another and drove down wages for all.

“Now Americans are forced to compete, not only with one another, but also with Mexican workers who are willing to work for much less than the average American. In the U.S., the average factory worker makes roughly $18 per hour while his Mexican counterpart earns just $3 per hour. This has encouraged a “race to the bottom” in which American companies are frequently relocating production facilities across the border. Iconic American companies such as Coca Cola, Ford, RCA, General Motors, General Electric and Nokia have all opened up assembly plants in Mexico. In fact, GE employs 30,000 Mexicans in 35 factories in the country.

“This race to the bottom has had a devastating effect on America’s manufacturing base. Pre-NAFTA, the U.S. had 16.8 million people employed in the manufacturing field. By 2007, that number was down to just 13.9 million. That accounts for over 20 percent of America’s manufacturing jobs over the past 14 years. Those good-paying manufacturing jobs have been replaced by low-paying service sector jobs with little or no benefits.”

While that “agreement” was being pushed by the hands that own and direct the WH and the Outlaw Congress, many of us tried to warn, but few paid any attention. It is a blue print to break up our country in favor of regions comprising a world government. Right there for the whole country to see but who did not see because NAFTA was being sold as a way to bring “cheap” goods to America.

Twenty years ago. Twenty year olds today were infants when it was passed. Thirty year olds were age 10. I feel very few to this day have any understanding about just how momentous it was and what it would do to this country. I knew because I was running for Congress at the time and did a crash course on trade and tariffs. I also read an outstanding book, The Pooring of America: Competition & The Myth of Free Trade by Dr. Ravi Batra. Today, those adults don’t have a clue; their grand parents and parents driven out of long time, secure, good paying jobs, losing everything and forced into big urban cities infested with crime and violence looking for new jobs.

My opponent, incumbent Wally the Waffle Herger, wrote a letter to the Farm Bureau in that district two weeks before the vote outlining how bad NAFTA would be for farmers and ranchers. Two weeks later he voted for it anyway. The people in that district went on to reelect him after he voted to destroy their livelihoods; I’ve already written many times about how vote fraud won Wally reelection, so I won’t waste time here. The Waffle spent most of his life on the public dime, first as a school board honcho in 1976, then on to the California State Legislature for eight years and then the Outlaw Congress for 26 years. He’s now retired with full pension benefits paid for by the sweat of your labor for the rest of his life. (With service of 20-25 years, a Member of Congress could retire with up to 80 percent of his or her final salary replaced.) The Waffle just made the 25 year mark.

Next came the grand daddy: The WTO/GATT. The World Trade Organization/ General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. The original one was signed in 1947. The big and final one signed into “law” in Marrakesh in 1994, by Marxist Bill Clinton. Full page ad, NY Times, April 15, 1994:1944. Bretton Woods: The IMF and the World Bank. 1945. San Francisco: The United Nations. 1994, Marrakech: The World Trade Organization. History knows where it’s going. The final act of the Uruguay Round….to the WTO, the third pillar of the New World Order, along with the UN and the IMF.”

We the people are forced to fund our own destruction by thugs in the IRS courtesy of your incumbent and mine. The Outlaw Congress has been unconstitutionally stealing the fruits of our labor in dues for the communist UN and another cabal of evil thieves, the IMF, International Monetary Fund longer than I’ve been alive. No where in Art. 1, Sec. 8, does it give the U.S. Congress any authority to steal from us to give to those private organizations out to destroy our sovereignty. Yet, do the people demand candidates running for Congress, challengers or incumbents, get us out of those destructive entities draining the life blood of America? Oh, a few of us “extremists”.

During the hearings on that monster GATT/WTO, French financier, the late Sir James Goldsmith, testified in front of Ernest Hollings committee. He demonstrated that GATT would gut the American textile market. The following are some quotes from the Washington Times, Dec. 6, 1993, which accurately reflect Sir Goldsmith’s statements during the hearings:

“Global free trade will force the poor of the rich countries to subsidize the rich in poor countries. What GATT means is that our national wealth, accumulated over centuries, will be transferred from a developed country like Britain to developing countries like Communist China, now building its first oceangoing navy in 500 years. China, with its 1.2 billion people, three Indochinese states with 900 million, the former Soviet republics with some 300 million, and many more can supply skilled labor for a fraction of Western costs. Five dollars in Communist China is the equivalent of a $100 wage in Europe.

“It is quite amazing that GATT is sowing the seeds for global social upheaval and that it is not even the subject of debate in America … If the masses understood the truth about GATT, there would be blood in the streets of many capitals. A healthy national economy has to produce a large part of its own needs. It cannot simply import what it needs and use its labor force to provide services for other countries. We have to rethink from top to bottom why we have elevated global free trade to the status of sacred cow, or moral dogma. It is a fatally flawed concept that will impoverish and destabilize the industrialized world while cruelly ravaging the Third World.”

There were riots in a few locations around the country over the WTO; up to 100,000 people in SeattleHuge ones in Europe. The late Sir Goldsmith told America what would happen and it did on a massive scale.

In 2000, the Outlaw Congress had the chance to get us out of GATT/WTO. The effort was killed by John Boehner and Nancy Pelosi. Since the impostor president has been squatting in the White House, John Boehner has given Barry Soetoro aka Obama every damn “free” trade treaty or “agreement” he’s pushed for; sleeping with America’s enemy, Johnny boy. Do have another glass of the red wine you’re so fond of.

On June 9, 2005, the House voted 338-86 to reject a motion to withdraw congressional approval of the 1994 agreement establishing the WTO and governing body, GATT. George Bush, Jr., following in his father’s steps to destroy our sovereignty and American jobs in favor of a new world order signed another job killing treaty: CAFTA – the Central America Free Trade Agreement. While the globalists in the Outlaw Congress were working to get CAFTA shoved down our throats, I was driving around the country doing my work. At every hotel and restaurant I ask clerks, waiters/waitresses: What do you think of the new “free” trade treaty being proposed, CAFTA? Not one American knew what I was talking about. Not a single working American knew anything about it; all I got is blank stares.

Once NAFTA got going, corporations that used to support American workers took MILLIONS of good paying, steady career jobs – particularly the steel and textile industry – and shipped them to Mexico. Suddenly, THOUSANDS of factories closed. Cities and towns that flourished for more than a century providing jobs for your grand parents generation they stayed in for their entire lives until retirement became little more than ghost towns. I know because I traveled extensively through Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. I saw with my own eyes what NAFTA did; it has been a complete and total disaster, as has our participation in the WTO.

One book that stands out on this issue is America’s Projectionist Takeoff 1815- 1914: The Neglected American School of Political Economy by Michael Hudson. I invite you to read the comments about Hudson’s book; it really is a must read. What made us a power house has been destroyed since 1994 and yet, every two years the American people who have suffered so badly because of all those treaties continue to reelect the same scum bags back to the House of Representatives and Senate who have taken us to poverty with more in the works.

Patrick Buchanan explains it perfectly:

“It seems that, despite the academic consensus that free trade is a win-win for all, free trade is not free. Great nations that have risen to global power by protecting their manufacturing, like Britain in the early 19th century, have begun their relative decline when they embraced free trade. Between 1870 and 1914, projectionist America and Germany both shoved Britain aside.

“Since Y2K, China, which protects its industrial base by keeping its currency artificially cheap, has surged past Italy, Britain, France, Germany and Japan to become the world’s second largest economy. And they are gaining steadily on us. Free trade appears to be the policy of fading nations.

“Perhaps it is time for a profit and loss statement of its costs and benefits. Undeniably, free trade has been a bonanza for the top 1 percent and many among our top 10 percent. As U.S. manufacturers shut down scores of thousands of U.S. factories to finance new plants in Asia, their production costs plummeted. Wages and benefits for Asians were, and are still, but a fraction of those of American workers.

“Health, safety and environmental standards were in some cases almost nonexistent. The eight-story garment factory in Bangladesh that collapsed in April, killing 1,100 workers, mostly women, and injuring another 2,500, would never have passed a U.S. building inspection.

“After having shifted production overseas and dramatically lowered costs, U.S. transnational’s saw a surge in profits. These were used to push corporate salaries into the stratosphere, increase dividends to shareholders, and keep the Washington lobbyists working the Hill day and night for fast track and free trade. And the lifestyle of our corporate elites changed. Where their fathers walked sooty factory floors in smokestack towns in World War II, these masters of the universe fly Gulfstream Vs to Davos and Dubai to dine with titled Europeans, Saudi princes and Chinese billionaires.

“These are America’s winners from free trade. The losers? Middle Americans. The average U.S. family has not seen a rise in real wages in 40 years. This is directly traceable to the loss of more than one-third of all U.S. manufacturing jobs. And that loss, that deindustrialization of America, is directly tied to the $10 trillion in trade deficits since Bush I.

“Writers who celebrate how U.S. imports have risen in this month or that year almost never mention the trade deficit for this month or that year. Perhaps that is because the United States has not run a trade surplus in four decades, whereas, in the first 70 years of the 20th century, we never ran a trade deficit. Trade surpluses add to GDP; trade deficits subtract from GDP.

“And when in a company town the company closes the factory, the town often dies. And all the little satellite businesses — bars, diners, food stores, pharmacies — that rose around the factory, they die, too. “The tombstones of countless dead towns across America should read: Killed by Free Trade. Tenured economists on college campuses call this “creative destruction.” End of excerpt.

If you think it doesn’t or won’t affect you, it has and will continue through trickle down economics, one of the few things I agreed with Reagan. I live in a small town in W. Texas. Last week three businesses that were here when I arrived in June 2006, closed their doors. The Permian Basin where I live is oil country. Good wages and fairly low unemployment. But, something is making people hold on to their money.

Now comes two more threats, which will bring even more job losses. More jobs for people in foreign countries while Americans live on food stamps and unemployment for years. More loss of OUR sovereignty.

Don’t listen to those promoting the TPP & Transatlantic Free Trade Area. While I am not against corporations (I think Hobby Lobby is a fine example of good, God fearing Americans running a highly successful private sector business), I am against what they’ve become, all for more money. Greed long ago took over love of country and decency.

Yes, I do fully understand the reality of what “free” trade did. It pitted American workers at double digit dollars per hour against workers in foreign countries making the equivalent of US $5.00 a day. Yes, I fully understand the problems all those “free” trade treaties created for companies and corporations here in America. Instead of throwing the rats out of the Outlaw Congress who caused this collapse of our job market, mega corporations put big money into their coffers to get them reelected. Uninformed Americans followed in the true sense of the herding technique because of blind loyalty to their party by reelecting the same incumbents whose votes contributed to killing our most important job markets. In reality, American workers fired themselves by supporting the same incumbents who destroyed their jobs.

But, it isn’t just the “free” trade and cheap overseas wages; it’s also about the purchasing power of the dollar, fiat currency and the “Federal” Reserve. Until one understands the devastation caused by our debauched currency along with heavy, progressive taxation, they won’t get the full picture.

The TPP & TAFTA must be stopped because it is a job and sovereignty killing tool for world government advocates.

Trans-Atlantic Free Trade Agreement (TAFTA):

“Some call it the Transatlantic Free Trade Area (TAFTA) and others call it the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). They’re both names for the same thing, a dangerous proposal that will have disastrous effects on the economy, health, safety, freedom, and sovereignty of the United States and her citizens.

“Closed-door meetings started earlier this year on the proposed TAFTA/TTIP. Corporate interests in the United States and Europe have been pushing for an agreement for decades, but only now is it beginning to materialize. These moneyed interests now have more power than ever over our politicians and are using it to their advantage. These corporations are the ones really writing this agreement. Just like with the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), there are over 600 corporate “advisers” with access to the text of the agreement, while even our elected congressional representatives cannot read the entire agreement. These corporations will be fine tuning the agreements to maximize their profits, with no regard to what this will do to the United States.

“Unlike many of the previous agreements the United States has signed onto, TAFTA/TTIP is not an agreement with a low-wage, low-regulation country. Wages in the EU are comparable to those in the United States, and European labor and environmental standards are often more stringent than those we have here. We are unlikely to see this agreement have the same direct negative impact on U.S. jobs that previous agreements have had, with scores of U.S. jobs sent overseas due to agreements like the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Of the 29 chapters in TAFTA/TTIP, only 5 directly deal with trade.

“So if this agreement is not about trade, what is it about? Inevitably this will be about gutting the ability of our government to do its job. This agreement is likely to further entrench the power of corporations to shape the laws of sovereign nations to fit their needs. If this agreement is passed we will be giving up more of our sovereignty, not to Europe, but to corporations who care only about their bottom lines.” More at the link.

The TPP and TAFTA are poison. Both are being negotiated behind closed doors. Not even the Outlaw Congress is allowed to see the text in those “agreements”:

“U.S. Senator Ron Wyden has introduced S. 3225, legislation that would require the Office of the United States Trade Representative to disclose its TPP documents to all members of Congress. Wyden asserted. “The majority of Congress is being kept in the dark as to the substance of the TPP negotiations, while representatives of U.S. corporations — like Halliburton, Chevron, PHRMA, Comcast, and the Motion Picture Association of America — are being consulted and made privy to details of the agreement.”

“As the federal government shutdown continues, Secretary of State John Kerry heads to Asia for secret talks on a sweeping new trade deal, the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The TPP is often referred to by critics as “NAFTA on steroids,” and would establish a free trade zone that would stretch from Vietnam to Chile, encompassing 800 million people — about a third of world trade and nearly 40 percent of the global economy. While the text of the treaty has been largely negotiated behind closed doors and, until June, kept secret from Congress, more than 600 corporate advisers reportedly have access to the measure, including employees of Halliburton and Monsanto.

“This is not mainly about trade,” says Lori Wallach, director of Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch. “It is a corporate Trojan horse. The agreement has 29 chapters, and only five of them have to do with trade. The other 24 chapters either handcuff our domestic governments, limiting food safety, environmental standards, financial regulation, energy and climate policy, or establishing new powers for corporations.”

Only one member of the Outlaw Congress read all 28,000 pages of the WTO/GATT nightmare, former Senator Hank Brown [R-UT] who refused to vote for it. He left after one term. Not one member of the Outlaw Congress including favorites like Steve King [R-Iowa], Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio nd Mike Lee [R-UT] read the $1.1 TRILLION borrowed dollars, another more debt budget agreement pushed through a few weeks ago. Stealing us blind for hundreds of billions of unconstitutional rape: “All told, the bill would provide $1.012 trillion to the Pentagon and other federal agencies. An additional $92 billion would be set aside for overseas operations, including military activity in Afghanistan and assistance for the growing flow of refugees fleeing the war in Syria. “A bill they didn’t even bother to read.

Now, we have two more “agreements” that will tighten the noose around our necks and the very body who has the authority to pass such agreements aren’t even allowed to know what’s in them except what has been leaked. Who is leading the pack in the GOP to sell us out, again? GOP set to fast-track ‘New World Order’ pact.

NEW YORK – “Republicans in the House are preparing to follow the lead of the White House and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to rubber-stamp the Trans-Pacific Partnership, or TPP, the most sweeping free-trade agreement since NAFTA.

“The White House seeks to pass it with a simple majority vote, without so much as introducing a single amendment to modify the language of the agreement it has negotiated behind closed doors. On Jan. 9, 2013, in a little-noticed press release, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., together with ranking member Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich, announced they were introducing “fast track” trade promotion authority legislation as a prelude to bringing up the TPP for expected passage in the near future.

“With House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, already deciding to vote with Senate Democrats to grant fast track authority for congressional consideration of the TPP, the only remaining opposition to the bill seems to be coming from House Democrats.”

That sleeze ball does have challengers against him in the upcoming primary. But, the party machine will throw all their money and support to reelect Johnny. Because, after all, John Boehner serves his global masters, not the people of his district for the past 23 years. However, there is a tea party candidate who could beat him IF the people in his district get out the vote to toss Boehner out on his butt. If Boehner allegedly wins, the alleged loser closest to his vote total must demand a full hand recount and cross check the voting rolls. Otherwise, Boehner will walk right back to Congress to continue defecating on the Constitutution and selling us out to the global elite.

Please, take the time today to write a short letter – no email – and send it to the district office (where the votes are; DC is where the lobbyists operate) for your U.S. House member and Senator and tell them: NO on the TPP and TAFTA. Remind them the primaries are looming. Stop killing more jobs and destroying our sovereignty.

Also, if you haven’t written a snail mail letter to the district office to the thief who represents you in the U.S. House, please do it. NO amnesty in any form for liars, cheats and thieves; illegal aliens. Deport not reward.. This is urgent; see bullet points at the bottom of my recent column.

Please continue buying Made in America; see huge list here. We can create a job boom simply by purchasing Made in the USA. Support American workers because those paychecks benefit local businesses. I am not against fair trade, but prior to NAFTA 97% of all shoes were made here by American workers. Today it’s less than 3%; all those good paying, permanent full time jobs gone to COMMUNIST China and countries like Brazil. Our textile industry the same; destroyed. Our steel industry the same; destroyed. Nearly 10 MILLION full time career long jobs gone. We can turn this around and slowly are, but it takes being committed to saving America, not supporting anti-American corporations who don’t give a tinker’s damn about you and your family, just your money.

BRICS Inject Capital into I.M.F. Basket of Currencies

 In my previous post I briefly explained how China was in the process of assuming the liabilities of the Federal Reserve, in addition to their already held liabilities of the U.S. Treasury.  Such a strong statement will require even stronger evidence.  This I will attempt to achieve over this multi-part essay.

G. Edward Griffin’s mind altering “The Creature from Jekyll Island” introduced many of us to the somewhat hidden history of the U.S. Federal Reserve.  It told of how the Federal Reserve Act was passed in Congress during the Christmas break in the year 1913.  It was insidious.  And it changed the course of human history, as it planted the seed of what would slowly grow to become the world’s reserve currency.

Though the U.S. dollar didn’t become the official reserve currency until the Bretton Woods Agreement of 1944, it is commonly accepted that the dollar had already usurped the British pound of this title well before it was officially acknowledged. As I believe the U.S. dollar has now already been usurped by another.  We’ll get back to that in a while.

There was another event which took place in the year 1913 which has been little understood or known at all in the western world today.  After the collapse of the Manchu Dynasty in 1911, the remaining Government of the Chinese Republic issued bonds to foreign investors for the purpose of raising capital to rebuild the country.  These bonds were titled the 1913 Chinese Government 5% Reorganization Gold Loan.  Emphasis on the word gold for later reference.

These bonds were pegged to the price of gold as a hedge against future inflation and were denominated in four currencies.  The underwriting banks for the bonds reflect the four currencies which the bonds were interchangeable with at the time, which are now known as HSBC, Deutsche Bank, the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, and Caylon – Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank.

Keep in mind that these bonds were issued in the same context as the U.S. Treasury Bonds which the world’s central banks have been gobbling up since 1944. These bonds had a yield.  These bonds have never fully been acknowledged by the Chinese government.  As a part of the deal with the British government for the return of Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China did honor 10% of the outstanding bonds at about 62% of the face value.  And what I can say at this time is that there is in fact a deal in the works for a final payout on the remaining bonds.  We’ll get back to that in a while.

1-25-2014 11-18-28 AMIn 1944, as a part of the Bretton Woods system, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank were created.  These were western dominated institutions whose sole purpose was organizing foreign markets for the acceptance of U.S. dollars.  We will leave the full explanation of these institutions and their role in structuring our current debt based system for another essay series, but for our purposes here, it’s important to understand that they propagated the exporting of dollar inflation to what we now call the “emerging markets”, or the BRICS countries.

Since the initial printing of the Federal Reserve Note (U.S. dollar) in 1913, the “dollar” has lost 95% of its value.  We see this devaluation of the dollar as inflation, or the increase of costs for items we buy.  This devaluation of the dollar has had a few milestones.  One is after the Bretton Woods Agreement when the dollar became the primary reserve currency of the world.  The second came when President Richard Nixon uncoupled the dollar from its peg with gold.  This was in 1971.  A third milestone can be argued to be in 1973, when the so called “petrodollar” was created with agreements between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, and later all the OPEC countries.  This “petrodollar” scheme ensured that all oil trades were completed internationally in U.S. dollars.  This was a slight-of-hand from the Bretton Woods arrangement to the “petrodollar” arrangement.

A fourth milestone was obviously the onset of Quantitative Easing after the financial crisis of 2008.  The chart below clearly shows how with each milestone the amount of debt (money printing) by the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve tag team has been multiplied dramatically leading to inflation.  This is shown by an increase in the red line, which represents CPI – Consumer Price Index, the amount you pay for stuff.

1-25-2014 11-23-22 AMThe only end to this pattern is an end to the dollar as the world’s primary reserve currency.  Just like the British pound before it.  In the chart below you’ll notice the same gradual downward pattern as the U.S. dollar.

The central banks of the world were buying up U.S. treasuries before the British even accepted that there was a problem with the pound.  The same is happening today with the dollar.  In fact, most of the world outside the United States has already accepted the demise of the dollar as fact.  But the idea is unfathomable to the average American.

The International Monetary Fund issues a currency called SDR – Special Drawing Rights.  The SDR’s are valued on a basket of currencies.  In essence, it’s a true to life multiply reserve currency system.  It has been slowly built up since the early 1970’s, at the same time the U.S. dollar started its serious devaluation.  Could the plan have been in place since 1971 to end the dollar system through hyperinflation before implementing the SDR as a true world currency?  Perhaps.

On January 9, 2014, I.M.F. Deputy Spokesman William Murray was giving a press briefing.  With zero coverage of this briefing in the western media, it’s important to relay what happened when the questioned was asked about the implementation of the 2010 Code of Reforms, or Governance Reforms.  Mr. Murray answered by stating:

“The legislative process is underway right now. We want the reforms to be adopted expeditiously. It’s really the U.S. Treasury, Jack Lew and his team that’s taking the lead on getting these measures through the U.S. Congress that are required to implement the 2010 reforms.”

It seems both the U.S. Treasury and the I.M.F. are very anxious about these reforms.  So what are they?

One, they bring four dynamic emerging market countries into the top 10 shareholder ranks or what we call quota ranks of the institution. China, Brazil, Russia, India. It also doubles our permanent capital, the quota. And it also creates a fully elected Executive Board.” 

This tells us a few important things.  One, the influence of the BRICS countries within the structure of the I.M.F. is going to be greatly expanded.  As stated, they will be in the top 10 shareholder ranks.  These are positions previously dominated by western financial and U.S. dollar interests.  The gravity of this statement cannot be understated.

Second, it’s telling us that the BRICS countries are bringing capital with them.  Enough capital in fact, to double what the I.M.F. presently holds on reserve.  The BRICS countries will be injecting a huge amount of capital into the SDR system.  One only has to research the amount of gold being exported to the BRICS countries, especially China, to understand where this capital, or worth, will come from.  We’ll get back to that in a while.

Thirdly, expanding the influence of the BRICS countries within the structure of the I.M.F. also “creates a fully elected Executive Board”.  The Executive Board of the I.M.F. is responsible for SDR allocation.  Let that sink in for a moment.  The BRICS countries are going to have an equal say on SDR allocation.  The SDR is being built up as the world’s reserve currency.  The value of the SDR will be based on a basket of currencies.  And the U.S. Treasury is pushing congress to make this happen.

On August 5, 2013, the Peoples Bank of China called for a “New Bretton Woods” system where the U.S. dollar would be removed as the world’s primary reserve currency.  It also called for an expanded usage of the SDR and for the new system to be supported by gold.

THE SOLUTION TO OUR OUT OF CONTROL POLICE?

Protecting and serving: words of the past, it seems. Today, the Police are more about terrorizing, bullying and killing for no reason. The Police of Canada and the United States are out of control. The same applies for much of the world. Yes, I understand there are still good cops out there, and I admit that quite often. There are still good cops out there, doing their job; protecting and serving every day. But it seems as if the bad cops out number the good cops these days. The biggest problem is, no one’s doing anything about it, as in our wonderful government.

Over the past few months, I’ve reported on many police related stories – stories such as Police shooting a mentally ill man because he was standing still, police terrorizing a family over an orange cone on the road, the militarization of America’s Police, tasing a man for 42 seconds straight, and many other stories. In the case of the mentally ill man, the Police tried to justify their actions by falsely reporting what had happened, and the officer would have gotten away with senselessly shooting the man if it weren’t for a neighbor’s security camera. It’s a story that’s really struck a note with me. I haven’t forgotten it, and it’s a prime example of how the Police are out of control. Although the officer in that particular case was exposed as lying scum, how many times has it gone unnoticed? How many have been injured or killed for no reason at the hands of Police?

If you don’t think we have a problem with Police in both of these great nations, there is something seriously wrong with you. Do the research. The Police have seemingly abandoned the ideal of protecting and serving for beating the shit out of you, killing, lying and so on. Maybe the new motto ought to be “protecting and serving the shit out of you.”

Solving the Police misconduct problem is simple. Many of these people are power hungry individuals who get off on having too much power, which leads into them abusing the powers they get when they become a Police officer. Simply weed out these people in the recruiting process. Don’t just tell us you do it, actually do it. And if Police forces are already doing it, step it up a bit – it’s obviously not working very well. Oh, and if they get past all of that, when they do something completely out of line, don’t let them come back to the job.

Secondly, there needs to be real accountability. In a lot of these lawsuits against Police, guess who ends up paying the price for them? The good old tax payers. I guarantee there would be a lot less Police misconduct if Police officers had to face real consequences and had to pay large fines.

Someone needs to Police the Police. Chances are, you may think having another government organization watch over them is a wonderful idea. WRONG! Having government watch over government has obvious issues. The people need to keep an eye on the Police, and let their superiors know about misconduct. Got video of Police misconduct? Post it. Share it with the world. Do whatever possible to get the word out about your experience with Police misconduct. Video evidence is key to exposing Police misconduct. Let local government know, because we still have some power in government, but we have to utilize it! Yes, I know this already occurs, but it needs to happen on a much larger scale. Most of us don’t have the time to do it, but we need to make the time to do it. The Police work for the people in the end, so maybe it’s time the people kept a closer eye on them, instead of brushing off stories of Police misconduct.

Third of all, STOP GIVING THEM MORE POWER! The militarization of Police has to stop. Giving an out of control system more power has so much potential to be a disaster. Yes, in rare cases it could help, but most of this military equipment doesn’t belong in the hands of Police, who are already known to abuse their powers. If it was made for a war, it doesn’t belong on any street in Canada or the United States. Do either countries look like war zones? No, so there shouldn’t be military equipment on the streets. Even the “wonderful” Obama said “weapons of war have no place on our streets.” Now, Obama should step up to the plate, and end the government program that allows the military to give equipment to Police departments in the US. Obama ought to stick to his word, although he seems to have a tough time doing that.

Here’s a statistic that should get you thinking: 4489 soldiers have been killed in the Iraq war. The number of Americans killed by Police in the last decade is over 5000. Those should be some startling numbers for you. Oh, and the terrorists that the government is always telling us are so dangerous have killed 238 Americans since the 9/11 attacks. So, let’s get this straight. You are more likely to be killed by Police, than terrorists. The number killed in the Iraq war is lower than the number killed by Police in the last decade. Sound like something might be wrong yet?

The way I see things, we have a huge problem. The Police are out of control, they do what they want, and get away with too much. A badge and a gun seems to give them way too much power. Things must change! Some may disagree with me, criticize me for my views, but what I discussed above is the way I see things. My solutions may not completely solve the problem, but I believe they could create a huge dent in the problem. It would be a huge step in the right direction. What ever happened to “protecting and serving?”

And to all the good cops out there, thank you. We need more like you.

What 2014 Holds in Store for Us

2013 is over, and I’m in the large group of people who are sort of glad to see it go.  But in terms of liberty and technology, it was a great year!  2013 was also the year that a vast new majority of Americans turned their back on the overseas military agenda.  We can all agree that we couldn’t care less about building short-lived roads and bridges in Afghanistan when we’ve got roads and bridges to build here for children, our grandchildren and ourselves.

Privately funded and openly discussed technologies – for alternative non-state controlled currency, for communications, for delivery of goods and services, for building anything and everything – debuted in a disordered rambunctious cacophony.  Bitcoin, space rockets, drones, encryption and 3D printing – we had been taught that these categories belong only to state, and never to the people.

Not only are the secrets of space and communications and currency no longer owned by the state, thanks to Ed Snowden and others, even the secrets the bureaucrats thought they owned are no longer secret.

New technologies that integrate information, knowledge, production and manufacture, and transportation abound, and are igniting the engine of capitalism.  Innovation is not only easier and faster than ever, it rules our modern life and economy – even as that same environment of discovery is allowing everyone to reach back into the past, and rediscover the genius of our pioneer forefathers.

This nexus of information and empowerment allows more people than ever before to pursue life, liberty and happiness.  Don’t have a job?  There have never been more ways to serve others, to meet their needs, locally and globally.  Need to learn a new skill or find your talents?  We live in a time where we are all kings of our destinies, and just about any knowledge we seek is available to us with minimal effort.

We are told that there are fewer American adults in the workforce than ever before, and that most are dependent on some kind of government handout.  Certainly, Americans are coping with new realities, and as they cope, they are discovering new-old truths about government and the state.  They are discovering that the words of Aesop “We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office” are undeniably true.

Something seemed to turn in 2013, and it signifies what is coming in 2014 and beyond.  The government has ended the year hated by more average Americans than ever.  If we the people separate ourselves emotionally and psychically from the government leadership and bureaucracy that purports to represent us, then we have declared our independence.  This trend of distrusting the government comes and goes, but the current situation in the United States is that the government cannot subsist on just the faithful – those who voluntarily pay their taxes, who consume because the president asks us to, who trust the Homeland Stasi, and call the police confident that they and their children will not be assaulted or shot by them in the process of being “helped.”

We know this is happening, in part because the polls tell us.   We don’t think the government should be in the healthcare business.  We are sick and tired of politicians in general.  We are tired of the horrendous and stupid tax burden the working poor and middle class are paying, and we increasingly understand that Washington, D.C. doesn’t really get the rest of the country.  There is a new kind of anti-urbanism in play, a new perception of large cities not as centers of culture and opportunity, but as sources of conflict, targets of violence, and founts of future refugees when faucets run dry and supermarket shelves go unfilled.

Across the world and time, history is made when subtle conflict between urban and rural grows political, and heats up.  Revolutions and secessions blossom and bloom, and empires rapidly corrode along these lines.   How can we know how close we are to this kind of breakdown of the state?   One way is to examine the fearful and panicked reaction of bureaucrats and politicians to what is evolving.  Private market-driven electronic currency, privately owned drones and privately “printed” handguns, popular and available encryption of our petty communications, all of these emerging and liberating technologies are being at once seized upon by the state, and quickly restricted to the common citizen.

The FAA has said that drones cannot be used for media and news gathering.   At least not yet.  Meanwhile, the information-gathering the state does on each of us is growing by leaps and bounds and nothing, least of which the Constitution, seems to be able to stop it.  John Whitehead sums up the ten ways we live each and every day in a US Government-run electronic concentration camp.  And we seem to be tolerating not only the concentration camp but we stand by as the government attempts to restrict our own access to many of the same technologies they use to enslave and monitor us.

There is a line of reasoning that says statism is always reversible, if only because statism over time becomes economically unsupportable.  Unfortunately, the cheapness of technologies for information gathering and control can prolong the inevitable collapse of statism under its own dead weight.  In a sense, the very success of innovation and capitalism can sustain the life of the government beast and secure it, for a lot longer than we the people can actually tolerate it.

I think 2014 will be the year we can go beyond the theory about what state interference in our lives we will or won’t tolerate, and start practically opposing it.   Many young people and others are refusing to participate not just in Obamacare, but in any and every manner of government assaults on their life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.  Each and every one of us who moves towards greater self and community sufficiency is practically resisting.   Each of us who knows more, and cares more, about our neighbors than we do the pantomimes in the distant capitols is practically resisting.  I think this makes us “the tireless minority” of John Adams that is “keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.”  We are all — young and old, rich and poor – capable of this each time we resist the state with moral confidence and firmness of intention.  2014 is our year, and its been a long time coming!

The Terrorists Lose If We Refuse to Be Terrorized

Fear is a primal human state. From childhood on, we fear the monsters of our imaginations, lurking in dark closets, under beds, in deserted alleyways, but we also now fear monsters in the deserts of Yemen and the mountains of Pakistan. But perhaps it is possible to pause and subdue our fears by carefully observing reality — just as we might advise for trying to calm and comfort a fear-stricken child. We might find that, in reality, the more immediate danger to our democratic society comes from those who lurk in the halls of power in Washington and other national capitols and manipulate our fears to their own ends.

What are these ends? They are typically the protection of moneyed interests. In 1990, the Secretary of State James Baker tried to make the case for the first Gulf War on economic grounds. “The economic lifeline of the industrial world,” he said, “runs from the gulf and we cannot permit a dictator such as this to sit astride that economic lifeline.”

That rationale, although honest, did not resonate with the American people — it hardly seemed to justify war. The George W. Bush administration abandoned the economic justification and turned to fear as a motivator.

Ultimately we are not powerless. We can resist the impulse to be afraid. We may not at the moment have answers to the very real dangers that we face in this world, but we can begin to identify those dangers and seek solutions once we overcome our fear. Or as Bertrand Russell rather more elegantly put it, as World War II was drawing to a close, “to conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom.”

Indeed, security expert Bruce Scheiner writes:

The damage from terrorism is primarily emotional. To the extent this terrorist attack succeeds has very little do with the attack itself. It’s all about our reaction. We must refuse to be terrorized. Imagine if the bombs were found and moved at the last second, and no one died, but everyone was just as scared. The terrorists would have succeeded anyway. If you are scared, they win. If you refuse to be scared, they lose, no matter how much carnage they commit.

Already, security measures—pervasive ID checkpoints, metal detectors, and phalanxes of security guards—increasingly clot the pathways of our public lives. It’s easy to overreact when an atrocity takes place—to heed those who promise safety if only we will give the authorities the “tools” they want by surrendering to them some of our liberty. As President Franklin Roosevelt in his first inaugural speech said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself— nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.” However, with risks this low there is no reason for us not to continue to live our lives as though terrorism doesn’t matter—because it doesn’t really matter. We ultimately vanquish terrorism when we refuse to be terrorized.

 Postscript: Courage is a Christian value, and real Christians, find the courage given to them in faith to stand up to tyrants.

I hate it when intelligent men write drivel like this. Ok, everybody let’s all stand up and declare we are not afraid. Now, isn’t it amazing how much better you feel? If not, shout it as loud s you can ten times. Now, do you really feel like the devil has been chased from your mind, and you have the power to move mountains? B.S.!

Have you even identified your fears? Are they blue, red or green fears?

Step number one to being free from fear is to determine what it is you’re afraid of, and then realize that fear is a real thing and cannot be eliminated, but it can be replaced, and the most likely thing to replace it is anger. You remember what anger is don’t you? It’s that emotion that has been pronounced politically incorrect, and erased from society by Bill Clinton, so we would never realize we could take back our freedom. People who are afraid never do anything but submit. People who are really angry kick ass!  So now you have a choice, you can continue submitting to tyranny in our government, or …. You can get mad as hell and kick some ass. Start practicing on your local government, then go to your state capital and raise hell with those pukes. With enough practice you can go to Washington and do some real ass kicking. They may bluster back at you, but when they have a crowd of really pissed off Americans in front of them, things will change very fast. The only power they have is what you allow them to have. All America needs is to make our government pukes more afraid of us than they are of the Banking Cartel. And that requires turning ignorance into knowledge, and knowledge into a raging anger.

A Glimpse into the Coming Collapse

Beginning in 1999, we predicted a systemic economic collapse that would take place in the First World and would impact all other economies. We began to list some of the “dominoes” that would fall as the collapse evolved and described that the “Great Unraveling,” as we termed it, would take roughly ten years. At that time, we guesstimated that the first two of the dominoes, a real estate crash and subsequent stock market crash in the US, would begin in about 2005.

We were premature in this prediction, as the first of the crashes did not occur until 2007. And, truth be told, we have frequently been incorrect in the timing of the other dominoes. Whilst the actual events have been predicted correctly, our timing has often been incorrect. In every such case, the prediction has been premature.

Sadly, however, the prediction of the events of the collapse have been almost entirely correct.

We also predicted that, just as a ball of string speeds up its rotation as it rolls along unraveling, so, too, the events of the Great Unraveling would occur more quickly as the situation worsened. Additionally, the severity of the events would increase concurrently with the increase in velocity.

However, none of the above was the result of gypsy fortune-telling, nor did it require the brightest of minds to work out. It is mostly based on the simple assumption that history repeats itself—that the world’s leaders make the same mistakes in every era, because human nature never changes. Anyone who is willing to expend the effort to study history diligently and to be prepared to think in contrarian terms, may develop a meaningful insight into the events of the future.

Back in 1999, of course, the very idea that the world was headed for serious economic calamity was considered ridiculous by most. The unfortunate fact is, most people do truly deal in the present, rarely questioning the future beyond what they consider to be the very next event. The truth of this statement is borne out by the fact that the great majority of people, who have already seen the first half of the Great Unraveling come to pass, still somehow cannot imagine the second half—the more disastrous half—as being in any way possible. Surely, somehow, the governments of the world will fix things.

However, the number of people whose eyes have been opened seems to be growing, and many of them are asking what the collapse will look like as it unfolds. What will the symptoms be?

Well, the primary events are fairly predictable: they would include major collapses in the bond and stock markets and possible sudden deflation (primarily of assets), followed by dramatic inflation, if not hyperinflation (primarily of commodities), followed by a crash of several major currencies, particularly the euro and the US dollar.

The secondary events will be less certain, but likely: increased unemployment, currency controls, protective tariffs, severe depression, etc.

But, along the way, there will be numerous surprises—actions taken by governments that may be as unprecedented as they would be unlawful. Why? Because, again, such actions are the norm when a government finds itself losing its grip over the people it perceives as its minions. Here are a few:

  • Travel Restrictions. This will begin with restrictions on foreign travel, including suspension/removal of passports. (This has begun in a small way in both the EU and US.) Later, travel restrictions will be extended within the boundaries of countries (highway checkpoints, etc.)
  • Confiscation of wealth. The EU has instituted the confiscation of bank accounts, which can be expected to become an international form of governmental theft. This does not automatically mean that other assets, such as precious metals and real estate will also be confiscated, but it does mean that the barrier for confiscation has been eliminated. There is therefore no reason to assume that any asset is safe from any government that approves theft through bail-ins.
  • Food Shortages. The food industry operates on very small profit margins and survives only as a result of quick payment of invoices. With dramatic inflation, marginal businesses (suppliers, wholesalers, and retailers) will fall by the wayside. The percentage of failing businesses will be dependent upon the duration and severity of the inflationary trend.
  • Squatters Rebellions. A dramatic increase in the number of home and business foreclosures will result in homelessness for anyone whose debt exceeds his ability to pay—even those who presently appear to be well-offAs numbers rise significantly, a new homeless class will be created amongst the former middle class. As they become more numerous, large scale ownership of property may give way to large scale “possession” of property.
  • Riots. These will likely happen spontaneously due to the above conditions, but if not, governments will create them to justify their desire for greater control of the masses.
  • Martial Law. The US has already prepared for this, with the passing of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which many interpret as declaring the US to be a “battlefield.” The NDAA allows the suspension of habeas corpus, indefinite detention, and the assumption that any resident may be considered an enemy combatant. Similar legislation may be expected in other countries that perceive martial law as a solution to civil unrest.

The above list is purposely brief—a sampling of eventualities that, should they occur, will almost definitely come unannounced. As the decline unfolds, they will surely happen with greater frequency.

But the value in projecting what the collapsing governments may do to their citizens is not merely an exercise in speculation. By anticipating the likelihood of any of the above, the individual may find that it would be prudent to turn off the game on television tonight and spend his time musing on the possibility of what he would do if any of the above events were to take place. (And, again, these projections are not mere fancy; they are actions typically taken by governments as their declines play out.)

Most importantly, if the reader concludes that there is a significant percentage of likelihood that any of the above are coming his way, he would be well-advised to assess whether they are developments that he feels he could live with. If not, he might wish to assess how much time he has before these events become a reality and what he may do to sidestep their impact on him.

Whilst, throughout the First World, the comment, “The whole world is going to Hell,” is becoming common, in fact, this is not the case. Although some countries are in decline, others are on the rise. It is left to the reader to decide whether he will fall victim to coming events, or will use them as an opportunity to internationalize himself.

DEEP THROAT RIDES AGAIN A MESSAGE FOR THE WASHINGTON POSTS BOB WOODWARD

Fox News Sunday is usually moderated by Chris Wallace. One week ago today, John Roberts sat in for Wallace and one of the primary topics covered was the death of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

A panel made up of George Will (Washington Post), Bob Woodward (Washington Post), Karl Rove (GOP political adviser) and Juan Williams (Fox News contributor) was on hand to discuss issues of the day. It was obvious that Sunday’s news heads considered the death of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon of importance.

Bob Woodward, along with his independent investigative journalist partner of the 1970s, Carl Bernstein (the two co-authored All the President’s Menin 1974), is of course famous for his coverage of the destruction of Richard Nixon’s presidency via his talks with an intelligence source called “Deep Throat” with whom he or Bernstein met regularly in a dark parking garage. Woodward and Bernstein created the term “Watergate,” and Americans have been calling politically corrupt acts “gate” ever since. We’ve had Billygate, Briefingate, Contragate, Debategate, Doublebillingsgate, Iraqgate, Koreagate, Nannygate, Travelgate, Troopergate and Whitewatergate. Most recently we have had Benghazi-gate, IRS-Tea Party Gate, Fast and Furious Gate, Voter Fraud Gate, et al, ad nauseum.

Woodward for the first time on a major media source made public on Fox News Sunday a Top Secret agreement signed by President Ronald Reagan… a “finding” that involved Defense Minister (at the time) Ariel Sharon (before Sharon became Prime Minister of Israel). Here’s what the Washington Post’s Bob Woodward of Watergate fame said:

“I think he was kind of a de Gaulle-like figure in Israel – somebody who defined the nation during certain periods… did a lot of strong things, made some mistakes. What I found interesting during the Reagan years when he was Defense Minister in Israel, he would come to the United States, meet with Bill Casey, the CIA Director, and he persuaded Casey and President Reagan to sign a Top Secret Finding to give $10 million to War Lords that he wanted to deal with in Lebanon. So his influence wasn’t just in Israel. It was in this country.”

Woodward was correct that Reagan signed such an agreement. He was wrong as to the purpose of the agreement and the amount of money involved. It was $10 billion, not $10 million and it was to fund a Peace Accord between Israel and Palestine.

Secret Agent Leo Emil Wanta (who is documented as the man who, while serving as President Ronald Reagan’s Personal Intelligence Coordinator, brought down the Soviet Union Ruble which led to the fall of the Iron Curtain) worked directly with Director of Central Intelligence, Bill Casey (“Uncle Bill,” as Wanta calls him). So far, Woodward has got the players right. But here’s where he went off base: Leo Wanta was given the responsibility for implementing the protocol to which Reagan agreed: $5 billion was to go to Sharon’s Israel and $5 billion was to go to Yasser Arafat’s Palestinians as part of the Peace Accord.

The subject of the Reagan-Wanta Peace Accord was researched thoroughly and is fully explained in Wanta’s biography, WANTA! Black Swan, White Hat (October 2013, Marilyn Barnewall, Kindle at Amazon.com) inChapter 7.

Because of the huge fortune Wanta had generated in the aftermath of his success in the Soviet Union, others – agent provocateurs – wanted the money and arranged for the Swiss Sûreté to arrest Wanta in Lausanne, Switzerland on the morning of July 7, 1993 while Wanta was having breakfast at the Hotel Au Lac. Secret Agent Leo Emil Wanta who had reported directly to President Ronald Reagan was put in what he describes as “a dungeon” and, with no charges filed against him, was kept there for 134 days.

Then he got a letter from Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. It arrived at du Bois Prison on November 16, 1993. On November 17, 1993, the Swiss quickly put Wanta on a Swiss Air flight to New York City where he appeared before Federal District Court Magistrate Allyne Ross. Her Honor immediately dismissed all of the phony charges against Wanta. Prime Minister Rabin’s letter can be read here.

*NOTE the date the envelope was received by the Prison du Bois in Lausanne: 16 November 1993. Wanta was returned to New York the next day. Copies of his arrival documents via Customs are in my files. After the coded Rabin letter was received, the Swiss wanted no part of Leo Emil Wanta.

Aside from the official Wanta biography which I finished writing in August 2013 and published on Kindle at Amazon.com in October, the best source for a quick overview of what happened during the days of chaos in Wanta World is an article written for NewsWithViews by former Polish intelligence officer David Dastych. Dastych, a very good man, died 18 months after writing this two-part article.

Additional reference is made to Wanta’s inability to fund the $10 billion Peace Accord between Israel and Palestine because of his unlawful arrest in Switzerland. On August 15, 2002, Wanta’s lawyer, Thomas E. Henry, wrote to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. The full letter can be viewed here. In short, Mr. Henry informed Prime Minister Sharon that if he reviewed pertinent material concerning the 1992 Peace Accord between Prime Minister Rabin and Yasser Arafat, it would be determined that Ambassador Leo Wanta was orchestrating the funding of Ten Billion United States Dollars to facilitate implementation of the referenced Peace Accord.

Mr. Henry went on to tell Sharon:

“It is further anticipated that a review of this matter would reflect that the funding never occurred. A bizarre range of circumstances resulted in failure to provide funding for the economic implementation portion of the mentioned Peace Accord. If Prime Minister Rabin’s records are available in the archives of your government, I believe you will find correspondence to Ambassador Leo Wanta from Prime Minister Rabin via Swiss authorities. This communication would have been in November of 1993…”

The reference to a “bizarre range of circumstances” concerned infringement on internationally recognized treaties, laws, and human rights of Ambassador Wanta. Leo/Lee Wanta does not suggest that the injustice suffered by him over the past many years is directly attributable to his participation in the mentioned Peace Accord. On the other hand, any direct relationship either intentionally or indirectly associated with the Peace Accord funding failure should be of great interest to Israel’s leadership – and that is precisely what Mr. Henry told Prime Minister Sharon in August of 2002.

It should also be of interest to Americans who have been at war in the Middle East for the past 13 years largely because the Reagan-Wanta Peace Accord was not funded. Why was it not funded? Because agent provocateurs wanted not just the $10 billion in Peace Accord funds, they wanted the entire fortune Wanta accumulated as a result of his successful operations in Moscow involving the Ruble… all $27.5 trillion of it. That is why Wanta was hidden in various U.S. prisons after Magistrate Ross dismissed all charges against him in New York… to give those agent provocateurs time to go to banks around the world and steal from the American people – that’s you and me – the funds Reagan intended to be used to stimulate the American economy when the time came. President Ronald Reagan knew what was coming.

Also on file is a copy of a FAX from Ariel Sharon’s Personal Secretary Mrs. Marit Danon whose signature verifies receipt of the above letter from Thomas E. Henry and thanking him for it.

The $10 billion to which Bob Woodward mistakenly referred to as “$10 million” was, indeed, a Top Secret document. President Ronald Reagan put his Personal Intelligence Coordinator, Lee Emil Wanta, in charge of overseeing the funding of Reagan’s Peace Accord.

Over the years, many people have wondered why I believe the Wanta story to be of such great significance that I have stuck to it like a bulldog holds onto a well-placed bite. This comment by Bob Woodward offers some insight into my answer to that question.

Would we have today’s problems in the Middle East if the State of Wisconsin hadn’t violated every civil right Wanta had and filed a phony and totally spurious tax evasion case against him, resulting in his unlawful imprisonment, making it possible for the funds designated for the Peace Accord to be stolen by agent provocateurs? That’s very unlikely. With the current crowd of progressive liberals running things anything could happen, but had the $10 billion set aside by President Reagan for the Peace Accord between Israel and Palestine been funded in the early 1990s, things would be very different today… but that Knight known for his honesty and integrity, Bill Clinton, came into office in January 1993 (Wanta was arrested July 7, 1993) and what happened is what it is.

Do you remember what Clinton’s answer was when asked why he had done some terrible thing in office (I can’t remember which terrible thing it was; there are many from which to choose)? “Because I could.”

Had Ambassador Lee Wanta been given access to his personal funds rather than imprisoned so CIA agents could travel the world telling the banks where Wanta’s funds were deposited that he was dead and collecting the money to pay for everything from bribes to black ops about which Congress knew nothing because they didn’t fund them, things would be different. Financial crises would have been averted (as President Reagan intended). We would have never suffered through an economic crisis caused by Wall Street’s joining of commercial banks and investment banks (which resulted in the creation of worthless derivatives responsible for huge numbers of unlawful foreclosures). The bottom wouldn’t have dropped out of the real estate market. We would never have had an unemployment problem because Wanta has since 1995 been begging for the opportunity to build a high-speed rail system he designed to create two million new jobs with good pay and full benefits.

That’s why I believe the Wanta story is so important. That’s why I wrote Ambassador Wanta’s official biography and it’s why the book is being made available at no cost to the American populace. It can be purchased at Kindle, Amazon.com, but it is a book that cannot be published in print. Why? Because there are hundreds of pages of documents linked to the text to prove what’s being said is true. It would be impossible to reproduce those hundreds of pages in a print publication. As for the Washington Post’s Bob Woodward, I don’t dig dark parking garages late at night for meeting investigative reporters, and I don’t whisper well… but I will be glad to provide all the information any investigative reporter needs to determine the accuracy of what has been said above.

Net Neutrality: RIP?

Candidate Obama promised to “support the principle of network neutrality to preserve the benefits of open competition on the Internet.”

President Obama did woefully little to do so. He’s waged war on free expression. He targets whistleblowers and journalists. He wants constitutional rights abolished.

He’s been more lawless than any of his predecessors. Except while campaigning, he’s been largely silent on preserving Net Neutrality.

It’s the last frontier of press freedom. It permits free and open communications. America’s First Amendment is its most important. Without it all other rights are at risk.

Net Neutrality is digital freedom. Mandating it is vital. Unrestricted online access is the only way to stay informed. It’s a vital source for real information.

It’s free from state or corporate control. It’s been this way so far. Public interest groups want it preserved. Everyone has the right to demand it.

It’s too precious to lose. Giant telecom and cable companies want control. They want toll roads established. They want higher priced premium lanes.

They want unrestricted pricing power. They want license to steal. They want content restricted. They want the right to censor.

They want dissent crushed. They want independent thought eliminated. They want digital democracy destroyed.

Net Neutrality denies them. They spent enormous amounts contesting. They want total Internet control.

Achieving it assures stifled innovation, oligopoly dominance, compromised free access to real information, and digital democracy denouement.

Imagine today’s Internet resembling cable TV. Imagining providers have sole control over content. Imagine consumers having no say.

At stake is digital democracy v. corporate dominance. Media scholar/critic Robert McChesney calls Net Neutrality the “defining issue” of our time.

It’s a “critical juncture (window of opportunity) to create a communication system that will be a powerful impetus (for) a more egalitarian, humane, sustainable, and creative (self-governing) society.”

It’s too precious to lose. It’s a battle that requires winning. On January 14, Free Press.net headlined “The Fight to Save Net Neutrality,” saying:

“(T)he US Court of Appeals (District of Columbia Circuit) struck down the Federal Communication Commission’s Open Internet Order.”

It balances corporate and consumer interests. It doesn’t go far enough. It needs improving. In includes provisions too important to lose.

Verizon sued to do so. Rules prohibit providers from slowing, blocking or prioritizing some content over others. Transparency is required. Digital First Amendment rights are protected.

FCC regulation imposed stricter regulations on wired Internet services than mobile ones. Verizon argued it had no legal authority to regulate providers under common carrier rules.

It omitted explaining its real agenda. It wants nothing interfering with bottom line interests. It wants unrestricted online control. It wants digital democracy destroyed. It wants First Amendment rights abolished.

Free Press called Net Neutrality “dead (for now.)” The battle is far from over. It won’t be easy going forward.

Columbia Circuit judges ruled unanimously for Verizon. FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler may appeal.

“I am committed to maintaining our networks as engines for economic growth, test beds for innovative services and products, and channels for all forms of speech protected by the First Amendment,” he said.

“We will consider all available options, including those for appeal, to ensure that these networks on which the Internet depends continue to provide a free and open platform for innovation and expression, and operate in the interest of all Americans,” he added.

Columbia Circuit judges ruled against FCC authority to enforce rules it implemented under what Free Press calls its “complicated legal framework.”

According to Judge David Tatel:

“Even though the commission has general authority to regulate in this area, it may not impose requirements that contravene express statutory mandates.”

Regulations imposed are important. They don’t go far enough. They need to be toughened, not weakened or eliminated.

Columbia Circuit judges oppose regulations impeding maximum profits. Corporate interests matter more than consumer ones. Digital democracy is irrelevant. Free expression doesn’t matter.

Last September, Verizon’s lawyer argued that FCC regulations compromise the company’s free speech rights. Claiming it is ludicrous on its face.

Verizon wants unrestricted online control. It wants censorship rights. It wants consumer free speech denied.

It wants whatever it’s against blocked. It wants sole power to decide. It wants consumers having no say.

Right-wing judges agreed. They did so disgracefully. Congressional action is required. Expect none without overwhelming public pressure.

Bipartisan complicity is deplorably anti-populist. Corporate interests alone matter. Obama is consistently hardline.

His policies belie his rhetoric. He says one thing. He does another. He’s done it throughout his tenure. According to Free Press:

The Columbia Circuit “ruling means that just a few powerful phone and cable companies could control the Internet.”

“Without Net Neutrality, ISPs will be able to devise new schemes to charge users more for access and services, making it harder for us to communicate online – and easier for companies to censor our speech.”

Corporate gatekeepers will control “where you go and what you see.”

Verizon, AT&T, Comcast and Time Warner Cable “will be able to block content and speech they don’t like, reject apps that compete with their own offerings, and prioritize Web traffic…”

They’ll be able to “reserv(e) the fastest loading speeds for the highest bidders (while) sticking everyone else with the slowest.”

Doing so prohibits free and open communications. Censorship will become policy. Net Neutrality is too important to lose.

Free Press president and CEO Craig Aaron issued a statement, saying:

Tuesday’s “ruling means that Internet users will be pitted against the biggest phone and cable companies – and in the absence of any oversight, these companies can now block and discriminate against their customers’ communications at will.”

“Without prompt corrective action by the (FCC) to reclassify broadband, this awful ruling will serve as a sorry memorial to the corporate abrogation of free speech.”

Center for Media Justice director Amalia Deloney called Tuesday’s ruling a possible “end of the Internet as we know it. For freedom’s sake, we can’t let this happen.”

“The path forward is clear: The FCC can and must reassert its authority over this essential communications infrastructure and protect the millions of Internet users now left in the cold.”

On Tuesday, a White House statement pledged support for “a free and open Internet.” Obama did so years ago duplicitously.

Throughout his tenure, he waged war on freedom. He wants First Amendment rights compromised. The White House statement rings hollow, saying:

“The President remains committed to an open Internet, where consumers are free to choose the websites they want to visit and the online services they want to use, and where online innovators are allowed to compete on a level playing field based on the quality of their products.”

Hopefully the battle for Net Neutrality is far from over. Digital democracy depends on preserving it.

The How’s and Whys of Gold Price Manipulation

The deregulation of the financial system during the Clinton and George W. Bush regimes had the predictable result: financial concentration and reckless behavior. A handful of banks grew so large that financial authorities declared them “too big to fail.” Removed from market discipline, the banks became wards of the government requiring massive creation of new money by the Federal Reserve in order to support through the policy of Quantitative Easing the prices of financial instruments on the banks’ balance sheets and in order to finance at low interest rates trillion dollar federal budget deficits associated with the long recession caused by the financial crisis.

The Fed’s policy of monetizing one trillion dollars of bonds annually put pressure on the US dollar, the value of which declined in terms of gold. When gold hit $1,900 per ounce in 2011, the Federal Reserve realized that $2,000 per ounce could have a psychological impact that would spread into the dollar’s exchange rate with other currencies, resulting in a run on the dollar as both foreign and domestic holders sold dollars to avoid the fall in value. Once this realization hit, the manipulation of the gold price moved beyond central bank leasing of gold to bullion dealers in order to create an artificial market supply to absorb demand that otherwise would have pushed gold prices higher. The manipulation consists of the Fed using bullion banks as its agents to sell naked gold shorts in the New York Comex futures market. Short selling drives down the gold price, triggers stop-loss orders and margin calls, and scares participants out of the gold trusts. The bullion banks purchase the deserted shares and present them to the trusts for redemption in bullion. The bullion can then be sold in the London physical gold market, where the sales both ratify the lower price that short-selling achieved on the Comex floor and provide a supply of bullion to meet Asian demands for physical gold as opposed to paper claims on gold.

The evidence of gold price manipulation is clear. In this article we present evidence and describe the process. We conclude that ability to manipulate the gold price is disappearing as physical gold moves from New York and London to Asia, leaving the West with paper claims to gold that greatly exceed the available supply.

The primary venue of the Fed’s manipulation activity is the New York Comex exchange, where the world trades gold futures. Each gold futures contract represents one gold 100 ounce bar. The Comex is referred to as a paper gold exchange because of the use of these futures contracts. Although several large global banks are trading members of the Comex, JP Morgan, HSBC and Bank Nova Scotia conduct the majority of the trading volume. Trading of gold (and silver) futures occurs in an auction-style market on the floor of the Comex daily from 8:20 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. New York time. Comex futures trading also occurs on what is known as Globex. Globex is a computerized trading system used for derivatives, currency and futures contracts. It operates continuously except on weekends. Anyone anywhere in the world with access to a computer-based futures trading platform has access to the Globex system.

In addition to the Comex, the Fed also engages in manipulating the price of gold on the far bigger–in terms of total dollar value of trading–London gold market. This market is called the LBMA (London Bullion Marketing Association) market. It is comprised of several large banks who are LMBA market makers known as “bullion banks” (Barclays, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JPMorganChase, Merrill Lynch/Bank of America, Mitsui, Societe Generale, Bank of Nova Scotia and UBS). Whereas the Comex is a “paper gold” exchange, the LBMA is the nexus of global physical gold trading and has been for centuries. When large buyers like Central Banks, big investment funds or wealthy private investors want to buy or sell a large amount of physical gold, they do this on the LBMA market.

The Fed’s gold manipulation operation involves exerting forceful downward pressure on the price of gold by selling a massive amount of Comex gold futures, which are dropped like bombs either on the Comex floor during NY trading hours or via the Globex system. A recent example of this occurred on Monday, January 6, 2014. After rallying over $15 in the Asian and European markets, the price of gold suddenly plunged $35 at 10:14 a.m. In a space of less than 60 seconds, more than 12,000 contracts traded – equal to more than 10% of the day’s entire volume during the 23 hour trading period in which gold futures trade. There was no apparent news or market event that would have triggered the sudden massive increase in Comex futures selling which caused the sudden steep drop in the price of gold. At the same time, no other securities market (other than silver) experienced any unusual price or volume movement. 12,000 contracts represents 1.2 million ounces of gold, an amount that exceeds by a factor of three the total amount of gold in Comex vaults that could be delivered to the buyers of these contracts.

This manipulation by the Fed involves the short-selling of uncovered Comex gold futures. “Uncovered” means that these are contracts that are sold without any underlying physical gold to deliver if the buyer on the other side decides to ask for delivery. This is also known as “naked short selling.” The execution of the manipulative trading is conducted through one of the major gold futures trading banks, such as JPMorganChase, HSBC, and Bank of Nova Scotia. These banks do the actual selling on behalf of the Fed. The manner in which the Fed dumps a large quantity of futures contracts into the market differs from the way in which a bona fide trader looking to sell a big position would operate. The latter would try to work off his position carefully over an extended period of time with the goal of trying to disguise his selling and to disturb the price as little as possible in order to maximize profits or minimize losses. In contrast, the Fed‘s sales telegraph the intent to drive the price lower with no regard for preserving profits or fear of incurring losses, because the goal is to inflict as much damage as possible on the price and intimidate potential buyers.

The Fed also actively manipulates gold via the Globex system. The Globex market is punctuated with periods of “quiet” time in which the trade volume is very low. It is during these periods that the Fed has its agent banks bombard the market with massive quantities of gold futures over a very brief period of time for the purpose of driving the price lower. The banks know that there are very few buyers around during these time periods to absorb the selling. This drives the price lower than if the selling operation occurred when the market is more active.

A primary example of this type of intervention occurred on December 18, 2013, immediately after the FOMC announced its decision to reduce bond purchases by $10 billion monthly beginning in January 2014. With the rest of the trading world closed, including the actual Comex floor trading, a massive amount of Comex gold futures were sold on the Globex computer trading system during one of its least active periods. This selling pushed the price of gold down $23 dollars in the space of two hours. The next wave of futures selling occurred in the overnight period starting at 2:30 a.m. NY time on December 19th. This time of day is one of the least active trading periods during any 23 hour trading day (there’s one hour when gold futures stop trading altogether). Over 4900 gold contracts representing 14.5 tonnes of gold were dumped into the Globex system in a 2-minute period from 2:40-2:41 a.m, resulting in a $24 decline in the price of gold. This wasn’t the end of the selling. Shortly after the Comex floor opened later that morning, another 1,654 contracts were sold followed shortly after by another 2,295 contracts. This represented another 12.2 tonnes of gold. Then at 10:00 a.m. EST, another 2,530 contracts were unloaded on the market followed by an additional 3,482 contracts just six minutes later. These sales represented another 18.7 tonnes of gold.

All together, in 6 minutes during an eight hour period, a total amount of 37.6 tonnes (a “tonne” is a metric ton–about 10% more weight than a US ”ton”) of gold future contracts were sold. The contracts sold during these 6 minutes accounted for 10% of the total volume during that 23 hours period of time. Four-tenths of one percent of the trading day accounted for 10% of the total volume. The gold represented by the futures contracts that were sold during these 6 minutes was a multiple of the amount of physical gold available to Comex for delivery.

The purpose of driving the price of gold down was to prevent the announced reduction in bond purchases (the so-called tapering) from sending the dollar, stock and bond markets down. The markets understand that the liquidity that Quantitative Easing provides is the reason for the high bond and stock prices and understand also that the gains from the rising stock market discourage gold purchases. Previously when the Fed had mentioned that it might reduce bond purchases, the stock market fell and bonds sold off. To neutralize the market scare, the Fed manipulated both gold and stock markets. While the manipulation of the gold market has been occurring since the start of the bull market in gold in late 2000, this pattern of rampant manipulative short-selling of futures contracts has been occurring on a more intense basis over the last 2 years, during gold’s price decline from a high of $1900 in September 2011. The attack on gold’s price typically will occur during one of several key points in time during the 23 hour Globex trading period. The most common is right at the open of Comex gold futures trading, which is 8:20 a.m. New York time. To set the tone of trading, the price of gold is usually knocked down when the Comex opens. Here are the other most common times when gold futures are sold during illiquid Globex system time periods:

– 6:00 p.m NY time weekdays, when the Globex system re-opens after closing for an hour;
– 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening NY time when Globex opens for the week;
– 2:30 a.m. NY time, when Shanghai Gold Exchange closes
– 4:00 a.m. NY time, just after the morning gold “fix” on the London gold market (LBMA);
2:00 p.m. NY time any day but especially on Friday, after the Comex floor trading has closed – it’s an illiquid Globex-only session and the rest of the world is still closed.

In addition to selling futures contracts on the Comex exchange in order to drive the price of gold lower, the Fed and its agent bullion banks also intermittently sell large quantities of physical gold in London’s LBMA gold market. The process of buying and selling actual physical gold is more cumbersome and complicated than trading futures contracts. When a large supply of physical gold hits the London market all at once, it forces the market a lot lower than an equivalent amount of futures contracts would. As the availability of large amounts of physical gold is limited, these “physical gold drops” are used carefully and selectively and at times when the intended effect on the market will be most effective.

The primary purpose for short-selling futures contracts on Comex is to protect the dollar’s value from the growing supply of dollars created by the Fed’s policy of Quantitative Easing. The Fed’s use of gold leasing to supply gold to the market in order to reduce the rate of rise in the gold price has drained the Fed’s gold holdings and is creating a shortage in physical gold. Historically most big buyers would leave their gold for safe-keeping in the vaults of the Fed, Bank of England or private bullion banks rather than incur the cost of moving gold to local depositories. However, large purchasers of gold, such as China, now require actual delivery of the gold they buy.

Demands for gold delivery have forced the use of extraordinary and apparently illegal tactics in order to obtain physical gold to settle futures contracts that demand delivery and to be able to deliver bullion purchased on the London market (LBMA). Gold for delivery is obtained from opaque Central Bank gold leasing transactions, from “borrowing” client gold held by the bullion banks like JP Morgan in their LBMA custodial vaults, and by looting the gold trusts, such as GLD, of their gold holdings by purchasing large blocks of shares and redeeming the shares for gold.

Central Bank gold leasing occurs when Central Banks take physical gold they hold in custody and lease it to bullion banks. The banks sell the gold on the London physical gold market. The gold leasing transaction makes available physical gold that can be delivered to buyers in quantities that would not be available at existing prices. The use of gold leasing to manipulate the price of gold became a prevalent practice in the 1990′s. While Central Banks admit to engaging in gold lease transactions, they do not admit to its purpose, which is to moderate rises in the price of gold, although Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan did admit during Congressional testimony on derivatives in 1998 that “Central banks stand ready to lease gold in increasing quantities should the price rise.”

Another method of obtaining bullion for sale or delivery is known as “rehypothecation.” Rehypothecation occurs when a bank or brokerage firm “borrows” client assets being held in custody by banks. Technically, bank/brokerage firm clients sign an agreement when they open an account in which the assets in the account might be pledged for loans, like margin loans. But the banks then take pledged assets and use them for their own purpose rather than the client’s. This is rehypothecation. Although Central Banks fully disclose the practice of leasing gold, banks/brokers do not publicly disclose the details of their rehypothecation activities.

Over the course of the 13-year gold bull market, gold leasing and rehypothecation operations have largely depleted most of the gold in the vaults of the Federal Reserve, Bank of England, European Central Bank and private bullion banks such as JPMorganChase. The depletion of vault gold became a problem when Venezuela was the first country to repatriate all of its gold being held by foreign Central Banks, primarily the Fed and the BOE. Venezuela’s request was provoked by rumors circulating the market that gold was being leased and hypothecated in increasing quantities. About a year later, Germany made a similar request. The Fed refused to honor Germany’s request and, instead, negotiated a seven year timeline in which it would ship back 300 of Germany’s 1500 tonnes. This made it apparent that the Fed did not have the gold it was supposed to be holding for Germany.

Why does the Fed need seven years in which to return 20 percent of Germany’s gold? The answer is that the Fed does not have the gold in its vault to deliver. In 2011 it took four months to return Venezuela’s 160 tonnes of gold. Obviously, the gold was not readily at hand and had to be borrowed, perhaps from unsuspecting private owners who mistakenly believe that their gold is held in trust.

Western central banks have pushed fractional gold reserve banking to the point that they haven’t enough reserves to cover withdrawals. Fractional reserve banking originated when medieval goldsmiths learned that owners of gold stored in their vault seldom withdrew the gold. Instead, those who had gold on deposit circulated paper claims to gold. This allowed goldsmiths to lend gold that they did not have by issuing paper receipts. This is what the Fed has done. The Fed has created paper claims to gold that does not exist in physical form and sold these claims in mass quantities in order to drive down the gold price. The paper claims to gold are a large multiple of the amount of actual gold available for delivery. The Royal Bank of India reports that the ratio of paper claims to gold exceed the amount of gold available for delivery by 93:1.

Fractional reserve systems break down when too many depositors or holders of paper claims present them for delivery. Breakdown is occurring in the Fed’s fractional bullion operation. In the last few years the Asian markets–specifically and especially the Chinese–are demanding actual physical delivery of the bullion they buy. This has created a sense of urgency among the Fed, Treasury and the bullion banks to utilize any means possible to flush out as many weak holders of gold as possible with orchestrated price declines in order to acquire physical gold that can be delivered to Asian buyers.

The $650 decline in the price of gold since it hit $1900 in September 2011 is the result of a manipulative effort designed both to protect the dollar from Quantitative Easing and to free up enough gold to satisfy Asian demands for delivery of gold purchases.

Around the time of the substantial drop in gold’s price in April, 2013, the Bank of England’s public records showed a 1300 tonne decline in the amount of gold being held in the BOE bullion vaults. This is a fact that has not been denied or reasonably explained by BOE officials despite several published inquiries. This is gold that was being held in custody but not owned by the Bank of England. The truth is that the 1300 tonnes is gold that was required to satisfy delivery demands from the large Asian buyers. It is one thing for the Fed or BOE to sell, lease or rehypothecate gold out of their vault that is being safe-kept knowing the entitled owner likely won’t ask for it anytime soon, but it is another thing altogether to default on a gold delivery to Asians demanding delivery.

Default on delivery of purchased gold would terminate the Federal Reserve’s ability to manipulate the gold price. The entire world would realize that the demand for gold greatly exceeds the supply, and the price of gold would explode upwards. The Federal Reserve would lose control and would have to abandon Quantitative Easing. Otherwise, the exchange value of the US dollar would collapse, bringing to an end US financial hegemony over the world.

Last April, the major takedown in the gold price began with Goldman Sachs issuing a “technical analysis” report with an $850 price target (gold was around $1650 at that time). Goldman Sachs also broadcast to every major brokerage firm and hedge fund in New York that gold was going to drop hard in price and urged brokers to get their clients out of all physical gold holdings and/or shares in physical gold trusts like GLD or CEF. GLD and CEF are trusts that purchase physical gold/silver bullion and issue shares that represent claims on the bullion holdings. The shares are marketed as investments in gold, but represent claims that can only be redeemed in very large blocks of shares, such as 100,000, and perhaps only by bullion banks. GLD is the largest gold ETF (exchange traded firm), but not the only one. The purpose of Goldman Sachs’ announcement was to spur gold sales that would magnify the price effect of the short-selling of futures contracts. Heavy selling of futures contracts drove down the gold price and forced sales of GLD and other ETF shares, which were bought up by the bullion banks and redeemed for gold.

At the beginning of 2013, GLD held 1350 tonnes of gold. By April 12th, when the heavy intervention operation began, GLD held 1,154 tonnes. After the series of successive raids in April, the removal of gold from GLD accelerated and currently there are 793 tonnes left in the trust. In a little more than one year, more than 41% of the gold bars held by GLD were removed – most of that after the mid-April intervention operation.

In addition, the Bank of England made its gold available for purchase by the bullion banks in order to add to the ability to deliver gold to Asian purchasers.

The financial media, which is used to discredit gold as a safe haven from the printing of fiat currencies, claims that the decline in GLD’s physical gold is an indication that the public is rejecting gold as an investment. In fact, the manipulation of the gold price downward is being done systematically in order to coerce holders of GLD to unload their shares. This enables the bullion banks to accumulate the amount of shares required to redeem gold from the GLD Trust and ship that gold to Asia in order to meet the enormous delivery demands. For example, in the event described above on January 6th, 14% of GLD’s total volume for the day traded in a 1-minute period starting at 10:14 a.m. The total volume on the day for GLD was almost 35% higher than the average trading volume in GLD over the previous ten trading days.

Before 2013, the amount of gold in the GLD vault was one of the largest stockpiles of gold in the world. The swift decline in GLD’s gold inventory is the most glaring indicator of the growing shortage of physical gold supply that can be delivered to the Asian market and other large physical gold buyers. The more the price of gold is driven down in the Western paper gold market, the higher the demand for physical bullion in Asian markets. In addition, several smaller physical gold ETFs have experienced substantial gold withdrawals. Including the more than 100 tonnes of gold that has disappeared from the Comex vaults in the last year, well over 1,000 tonnes of gold has been removed from the various ETFs and bank custodial vaults in the last year. Furthermore, there is no telling how much gold that is kept in bullion bank private vaults on behalf of wealthy investors has been rehypothecated. All of this gold was removed in order to avoid defaulting on delivery demands being imposed by Asian commercial, investment and sovereign gold buyers.

The Federal Reserve seems to be trapped. The Fed is creating approximately 1,000 billion new US dollars annually in order to support the prices of debt related derivatives on the books of the few banks that have been declared to be “to big to fail” and in order to finance the large federal budget deficit that is now too large to be financed by the recycling of Chinese and OPEC trade surpluses into US Treasury debt. The problem with Quantitative Easing is that the annual creation of an enormous supply of new dollars is raising questions among American and foreign holders of vast amounts of US dollar-denominated financial instruments. They see their dollar holdings being diluted by the creation of new dollars that are not the result of an increase in wealth or GDP and for which there is no demand.

Quantitative Easing is a threat to the dollar’s exchange value. The Federal Reserve, fearful that the falling value of the dollar in terms of gold would spread into the currency markets and depreciate the dollar, decided to employ more extreme methods of gold price manipulation.
When gold hit $1,900, the Federal Reserve panicked. The manipulation of the gold price became more intense. It became more imperative to drive down the price, but the lower price resulted in higher Asian demand for which scant supplies of gold were available to meet.

Having created more paper gold claims than there is gold to satisfy, the Fed has used its dependent bullion banks to loot the gold exchange traded funds (ETFs) of gold in order to avoid default on Asian deliveries. Default would collapse the fractional bullion system that allows the Fed to drive down the gold price and protect the dollar from QE.

What we are witnessing is our central bank pulling out all stops on integrity and lawfulness in order to serve a small handful of banks that financial deregulation allowed to become “too big to fail” at the expense of our economy and our currency. When the Fed runs out of gold to borrow, to rehypothecate, and to loot from ETFs, the Fed will have to abandon QE or the US dollar will collapse and with it Washington’s power to exercise hegemony over the world.

Coincidentally, the same day, Tuesday, January 14, 2014, a chemical attack and a shooting happened, both at two different schools, (also deemed as safe zones), thus drawing America’s attention away from this monumental court case. Here is Obama’s chilling statement yesterday during the meeting:

Knowing the limitations of the executive privilege, it is hard to rely on the nation’s highest Attorney General, Eric Holder, when he is in contempt of congress for giving false testimony and running guns to foreign countries. That being said, one could conclude that he will not properly investigate, or prosecute, the president for the abuse of his executive privileges.

Is this the beginning of dictatorship in the United States of America? It would appear so. But this goes far deeper, and there is a far more sinister plan at work. It isn’t about protecting our kids, it’s about establishing the New World Order, while at the same time, making good our promise with China. Let me explain.

Just in the last few years, we can see a few examples of ways in which false flags were used in order to take our attention away from something else that was taking place in our government system. The Boston bombing, I feel, is an example of a false flag which took our focus off of the Benghazi incident. Then, there was the Sandyhook school shooting. Another false flag used to draw more support for the gun ban? Even though the Senate did not pass the small arms treaty, it still remains open for the next hundred years until destroyed or signed off on.

These incidents seem to happen during times when President Obama is under pressure.

Just who is trying to disarm the United States of America, and why? Does it make sense to look at one person with a personal agenda—Barrack Obama? In my opinion, no. One man with a personal agenda would only go so far. We absolutely must look at what is behind the man, who is a puppet for a biggerpicture.

The written agreement was brought to Beijing by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and was formalized and agreed-to during her recent trip to China.This means that in the event the US Government defaults on its financial obligations to China, the Communist Government of China would be permitted to physically take — inside the USA — land, buildings, factories, perhaps even entire cities – to satisfy the financial obligations of the US government.

Put simply, the feds have now actually mortgaged the physical land and property of all citizens and businesses in the United States. They have given to a foreign power, their Constitutional power to “take” all of our property, as actual collateral for continued Chinese funding of US deficit spending and the continued carrying of US national debt.

What this means is that China can legally and rightfully come in under Eminent Domain and seize property, or assets, such as Detroit, Columbus, etc. I am sure you can understand the implications here. First, Martial Law would have to be established because, simply stated, it would be a blood bath.  Coincidently, the United States of America is still in a state of national emergency; declared a war zone! What you need to understand here is that our debt to China has climbed above and beyond what is permissible.

Going back to what I originally stated about the Newtown school shooting at Sandyhook Elementary, I would like for you to look at this quote here from Breitbart News:

The official Chinese government news agency, Xinhua, has demanded the US immediately adopt stricter gun control measures to reduce the number of firearms the US populace is permitted to possess.

The Chinese state-controlled media’s statement, titled “Innocent Blood Demands No Delay for US Gun Control,” is primarily focused on the Newtown tragedy in which 26 Americans were killed by a mad gunman. Twenty of the victims were young children.

The Chinese government stated, “Their blood and tears demand no delay for the U.S. gun control.”

In an apparent effort to restrict information to their populace, the Chinese government wrote of a number of US mass shootings but failed to mention they were either stopped by a citizen legally carrying a firearm or otherwise only occurred in the controversial gun-free zones that critics say make prime targets for madmen.

The Chinese government states:

The past six months have seen enough shooting rampages in the United States. Just three days ago, three people were shot dead at a shopping mall in Oregon. Two weeks ago, a football player shot his girlfriend dead and then committed suicide. Five months ago, 12 people were killed and 58 wounded in a shooting spree at a midnight screening of a Batman film in Colorado.

This is just one of many examples of how the ‘powers that be’ strategically plan events, even in advance of them happening, as well as what is ‘soon’ headed our way.

The Federal Reserve, established in 1913 on Jekyll Island, (once a resort for the elite), is a most powerful, privately owned organization that is destroying and corrupting the United States of America from within in order to bring about a New World Order.

So powerful, in fact, that we have had two United States Presidents assassinated in cold blood, and one whom they attempted to assassinate, simply becaus they desired to dissolve the Federal Reserve! Those three presidents were Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, and Andrew Jackson.

Presidents Lincoln, Jackson, and Kennedy tried to stop this family of bankers by printing U.S. dollars without charging the taxpayers interest (Reference 4). Today, if the government runs a deficit, the FED prints dollars through the U.S. Treasury, buys the debt, and the dollars are circulated into the economy. In 1992, taxpayers paid the FED banking system $286 billion in interest on debt the FED purchased by printing money virtually cost free (Reference 12, P. 265). Think Tank: “Extraordinary Crisis” Needed to Preserve “New World Order”

Writing for the Atlantic Council, a prominent think tank based in Washington DC, Harlan K. Ullman warns that an “extraordinary crisis” is needed to preserve the “new world order,” which is under threat of being derailed by non-state actors like Edward Snowden.

The Atlantic Council is considered to be a highly influential organization with close ties to major policy makers across the world. It’s headed up by Gen. Brent Scowcroft, former United States National Security Advisor under U.S. Presidents Gerald Ford and George H. W. Bush. Snowcroft has also advised President Barack Obama.

Harlan K. Ullman was the principal author of the “shock and awe” doctrine and is now Chairman of the Killowen Group which advises government leaders.

In an article entitled War on Terror Is not the Only Threat, (Displayed Below) Ullman asserts that, “tectonic changes are reshaping the international geostrategic system,” arguing that it’s not military superpowers like China but “non-state actors” like Edward Snowden, Bradley Manning and anonymous hackers who pose the biggest threat to the “365 year-old Westphalian system” because they are encouraging individuals to become self-empowered, eviscerating state control.

“Very few have taken note and fewer have acted on this realization,” notes Ullman, lamenting that “information revolution and instantaneous global communications” are thwarting the “new world order” announced by U.S. President George H.W. Bush more than two decades ago.

“Without an extraordinary crisis, little is likely to be done to reverse or limit the damage imposed by failed or failing governance,” writes Ullman, implying that only another 9/11-style cataclysm will enable the state to re-assert its dominance while “containing, reducing and eliminating the dangers posed by newly empowered non-state actors.”

Ullman concludes that the elimination of non-state actors and empowered individuals “must be done” in order to preserve the new world order. A summary of their material suggests that the Atlantic Council’s definition of a “new world order” is a global technocracy run by a fusion of big government and big business under which individuality is replaced by transhumanist singularity.

Ullman’s rhetoric sounds somewhat similar to that espoused by Trilateral Commission co-founder and regular Bilderberg attendee Zbigniew Brzezinski, who in 2010 told a Council on Foreign Relations meeting that a “global political awakening,” in combination with infighting amongst the elite, was threatening to derail the move towards a one world government.

Ullman’s implied call for an “extraordinary crisis” to reinvigorate support for state power and big government has eerie shades of the Project For a New American Century’s 1997 lament that “absent some catastrophic catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor,” an expansion of U.S. militarism would have been impossible.

In 2012, Patrick Clawson, member of the influential pro-Israel Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP) think tank, also suggested that the United States should launch a staged provocation to start a war with Iran.

Ullman’s concern over failing state institutions having their influence eroded by empowered individuals, primarily via the Internet, is yet another sign that the elite is panicking over the “global political awakening” that has most recently expressed itself via the actions of people like Edward Snowden, Julian Assange, Bradley Manning and their growing legion of supporters.

 War on Terror Is not the Only Threat

Unspecific warnings last week about an al-Qaida terrorist plot were taken very seriously.

With the anniversary of September 11th looming and the tragic killing of U.S. diplomats in Benghazi, Libya, last year still open political wounds in Washington, it was unsurprising that the United States, Britain, and France ordered the closing of a score embassies and posts throughout North Africa and the Middle East and issued travel warnings for the region. In the United States initially, there was general bipartisan support for the closings.

Critics of the Obama administration were quick to point out that the war on terror was far from over and pronouncing the “decimation” of al-Qaida premature. As the word “decimation” was wrongly used yet again — it means a 10 percent degradation — so too has been the collective failure by the West to recognize the tectonic changes that are reshaping the international geostrategic system far beyond the reach of al-Qaida and other terrorist groups.

Hence, the counter-terrorism responses have been technical and tactical rather than strategic and aren’t addressing the forces that are dramatically altering the nature of international politics.

In simple terms, al-Qaida is symptomatic of far greater changes in the structure of the international system. The major enemy and adversary are no longer states bent on disrupting or dominating the system despite those who see China as a future foe.

Instead, the more immediate danger rests in the dramatic empowerment of individuals and groups, for good and sadly evil, often lumped together as “non-state actors.”

Edward Snowden, Bradley Manning, countless “hackers” and anonymous people mailing anthrax-filled letters whose actions have indeed constituted real threats and systemic disruptions are among the former. Al-Qaida and other radical groups reflect the latter.

In essence, the 365 year-old Westphalian system that placed sovereign states as the centerpieces of international politics is being tested and in some cases made obsolete by the empowerment of individuals and non-state actors. As former national security adviser Brent Scowcroft observes, global politics has entered a post-Westphalian era. But very few have taken note and fewer have acted on this realization.

The fundamental cause of this empowerment is the diffusion of all forms of power writ large commonly called “globalization,” accelerated by the information revolution and instantaneous global communications and the real and perceived fragilities and weaknesses of states to intervention, interference and disruption by non-traditional actors.

September 11th could become the demarcation point of this new era much as 1648 and the Treaty of Westphalia marked the beginning of the state-centric system of the international order.

While the analogy is loose, it won’t take centuries for the effects of globalization and the end or at least the transition of the Westphalian era to take hold.

Beyond this inflection point in international politics, still unabsorbed and misunderstood by most governments and people, a second reality complicates taking effective action in what could truly be a “new world order,” the description coined by U.S. President George H.W. Bush after the implosion of the Soviet Union more than two decades ago.

Failed and failing government from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe with Brussels and Washington in between is the largest collective impediment to the betterment of mankind.

Without an extraordinary crisis, little is likely to be done to reverse or limit the damage imposed by failed or failing governance. The United States is Exhibit A although there are far too many competitors for that title.

However, the changing Westphalian system can and must be addressed if there is to be any chance of success in containing, reducing and eliminating the dangers posed by newly empowered non-state actors.

We have been here before. Sixty-eight years ago this month, the nuclear age dawned over Hiroshima. Over time as nuclear and especially thermonuclear weapons were seen as more than just extensions of conventional munitions and potentially existential, a theory of deterrence emerged. We are at similar juncture regarding cyber where we lack an overarching understanding of the implications and possible consequences of this domain.

The first step as the Westphalian system faces profound redefinition is understanding and recognizing that these shifts are under way. From that appreciation, specific concepts and ideas can be fashioned to help guide us on this journey.

The path will be difficult and tortuous. Politics and ideological preferences will confuse and distort clear vision. The tendency to overreact, as occurred after September 11th and the Snowden and Manning leaks, will collide with budget realities in which a great deal less will be spent on national security. And because of the pernicious nature of the U.S. system of government, finding institutions with the objectivity, courage and perseverance to chart this new unknown won’t be easy.

Yet this must be done.

I’ve written much about Edward Snowden, his back-story, and the questions that surround him (full archive here). But here, I want to discuss the aftermath, because no matter how you view Snowden and what he has done, he is now being used as a symbol.

Take a hero who has broken through the veil of secrecy, who’s stolen the golden eggs from the goose’s eyrie, who’s escaped…

And put him through the meat grinder of the press.

Raise him up, put him down, praise him, excoriate him, threaten him, isolate him, adore him, and sooner or later he begins to fade from view.

His profile, his public persona has been chopped up so many different ways into so many disparate pieces that, eventually, the symbol of him no longer carries any real force.

Meanwhile, the NSA and the Surveillance State continue on. They weather the storm. Despite the exploding scandal and the fall-out, and even though certain modes of collecting information may be reduced, new strategies emerge.

Therefore, the Surveillance State becomes even more powerful than it was.

Snowden rocked the boat, but the boat has been repaired. It sails on with even greater assurance.

And regardless of how the public responds to Snowden and the NSA, it is only a partial response, because the true aims of the Surveillance State are a mystery to most people.

Surveillance is coming at us from all angles. Chips, drones, TSA checkpoints, smart meters, back-door electronic products, video cameras, spying home appliances; our phone calls and emails and keystrokes and product purchases are recorded.

The government and its allied corporations will know whatever they want to know about us.

What then?

What happens when all nations are blanketed from stem to stern with surveillance?

Smart meters give us one clue. Public utilities, acting on government orders, will be able to allot electricity in amounts and at times it wishes to. This is leading to an overarching plan for energy distribution to the entire population.

Claiming shortages and limited options, governments will essentially be redistributing wealth, in the form of energy, under a collectivist model.

National health insurance plans (such as Obamacare) offer another clue. Such plans require every citizen to be assigned a medical ID package, which is a de facto identity card. In the medical arena, this means cradle-to-grave tracking.

Surveillance inevitably leads to placing every individual under systems of control. It isn’t just “we’re watching you” or “we’re stamping out dissent.” It’s “we’re directing your participation in life.”

As a security analyst in the private sector once told me, “When you can see what every employee is doing, when you have it all at your fingertips, you naturally move on to thinking about how you can control those patterns and flows of movement and activity. It’s irresistible. You look at your employees as pieces on a board. The only question is, what game do you want to play with them?”

Every such apparatus is ruled, from the top, by Central Planners. When it’s an entire nation, upper-echelon technocrats revel in the idea of blueprinting, mapping, charting, and regulating the flows of all goods and services and people, “for the common good.”

Water, food, medicine, land use, transportation—they all become items of a networked system that chooses who gets what and when, and who can travel where, and under what conditions.

This is the wet dream of technocrats. They believe they are saving the world while playing a fascinating game of multidimensional chess.

As new technologies are discovered and come on line, the planners decide how they will be utilized and for whose benefit.

In order to implement such a far-reaching objective, with minimal resistance from the global population, manufactured crises are unleashed which persuade the masses that the planet is under threat and needs “the wise ones” to rescue it and them.

We watch (and fight in) wars and more wars, each one exacerbated and even invented. We see (planned) famine. We are told about desperate shortages and a frying Earth. We are presented with phony epidemics that are falsely promoted as scourges.

The only response, we are led to believe, is more humane control over the population.

On top of that, we are fed an unending stream of propaganda aimed at convincing us that “the great good for the greatest number” is the only humane and acceptable principle of existence. All prior systems of belief are outmoded. We know better now. We must be good and kind and generous to everyone at all times.

Under this quasi-religious banner, which has great emotional appeal, appears The Plan. Our leaders allocate and withhold on the basis of their greater knowledge. We comply. We willingly comply, because we are enlisted in a universal army of altruistic concern.

This is a classic bait and switch. We are taught to believe that service for the greater good is an unchallengeable goal and credo. And then, later, we find out it has been hijacked to institute more power over us, in every way.

The coordinated and networked surveillance of Earth and its people is fed into algorithms that spit out solutions. This much food will go here; that much water will go there; here there will be medical care; there medical care will be severely rationed. These people will be permitted to travel. Those people will be confined to their cities and towns.

Every essential of life—managed with on-off switches, and the consequences will play out.

An incredibly complex system of interlocking decisions will be hailed as messianic.

Surveillance; planning; control.

The surveillance is expanded, not because we are constantly under threat and must be protected from terrorists, but because we can then be labeled and entered on to 10 billion squares of the game board, to be moved around or held in place.

This is the vision.

It isn’t ours. It never was. But we are not consulted.

Instead we are made witness to watershed events: the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing; the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center; the 2001 assault on the Trade Center and the Pentagon. These ops paralleled the unleashing of better and more far-ranging methods of surveillance.

We are profiled down to the threads on our clothing and DNA in our cells. But what is our profile of the technocrats and their bosses?

They are divorced from human life. They live in a vacuum. They take pleasure from that vacuum.

In 1982, I interviewed Bill Perry, who had just left his job as PR chief at Lawrence Livermore Labs, where scientists design nuclear weapons. Perry had been given the kind of job PR people long for. But one day, when he passed the desk of a researcher and listened to his complaints about budget limitations, Perry said, “Listen, America already has the means to blow up the whole planet eight times. What more do you need?”

The researcher looked up at him with a genuinely puzzled expression. He said, “You don’t understand, Bill. This is a problem in physics.”

In the same detached sense, the technocrats who want to calculate and direct our future, move by move, minute by minute, see us as components of a complex and very interesting problem.

Yes, they indeed expect to exercise power and control. But they also live in an abstraction. They deal their answers from that realm. They exercise cool passion. They see, for example, that not every single twitch of thought of every person on earth is yet mapped, so they want to finish constructing the means by which they can chart those “missing elements.” They want to complete the formula.

They view their research as a wholly natural implication of the mathematics they can manipulate. They swim in technology and they want to extend its architecture. To abandon the program would be tantamount to denying their own intelligence. They climb the mountain because it is there.

They do perceive that one factor does not fit their algorithms: the free individual. It’s the wild card.

Therefore, they are compelled to analyze freedom and break it down into DNA functions and brain processes. They assume, because they must, that the free individual is an illusory idea that flows from some older configuration of synaptic transmission, at a time in our evolution when we needed it. But now, they suppose, the engineering of human activity and thought has superseded such quaint notions. Now we all can be tracked, traced, and studied on a different and wider scale. Now we can be seen for what we really are: a hive.

Therefore, we must be instructed, within tight limits, about our various functions.

I’m reminded of a statement attributed to Nobel Laureate, Alfred Szent-Giorgi: “In my search for the secret of life, I have ended up with atoms and electrons, which have no life at all. Somewhere along the line, life has run through my fingers. So, in my old age, I am retracing my steps…”

Today’s technocrats will admit no such disappointment or existential crisis. They flourish with great optimism as they design the future world and its single society. If they run out of pieces of their puzzle to study, they’ll try to track the motion of every atom and electron and quark in the universe. They’ll delight in it.

Knowing all this, we know the terms of the war we are in.

The Central Planners have an equation: “free=uncontrolled=dangerous.”

By the gross terms of that equation, they lump us in with thugs and murderers and terrorists. They even see the normal functioning of the brain as a threat, as an intrinsically defective process, and they have long since decided that organ must be corrected with drugs and electromagnetic interventions.

We, on the other hand, must assert, in every way possible, that freedom is real and inviolable, and we must back that up with our actions.

When individual freedom is no longer discussed in great depth by people who should know better, when it is left to wither on the vine, many programs and structures are built to take its place. But if freedom seems like a weak response to the Surveillance State and its goals, remember this: all the State power I’ve been enumerating is organized to curtail freedom, stop it, end it, make it obsolete. That enormous effort wouldn’t be necessary if freedom were merely a passing fancy. It isn’t. It’s an eternal force.

America Is Plunging Into Kafka’s Nightmare

There is a certain level of dishonesty in the common study of history. We look back at the tyrannies of the past, the monstrous governments, the devastating wars and the unimaginable crimes, and we wonder how it could have been possible. How could the people of that particular generation let such atrocities come to pass? Why didn’t they do something? Why didn’t they protest? Why didn’t they fight back?

We wonder all of this as we absorb the lists of dates, names and actions in books written by other men who memorized other lists of dates, names and actions. We are taught to study and wonder without ever actually applying the lessons of the past to the developments of today. We are conditioned to assert our own narrow spin on yesterday, instead of placing ourselves in the shoes of our ancestors or recognizing that their struggles remain our struggles. The modern method of viewing history detaches us from it, making it seem distant, alien or surreal.

Perhaps many societies fail to prepare or act in the face of tyranny because they had forgotten their own histories, making the demise of their culture appear so schizophrenic they would not believe what their eyes were telling them.

Often, the only way to grasp the more complete truth of the present is to examine it through the lens of the absurd. Sadly, our Nation, our culture and most of the world around us have become so backward, ugly, feeble and twisted that the only adequate comparison is to the nightmares of surrealists.

When I examine recent U.S. legislation, the exposure of classified documents, and the openly admitted criminality of political leadership, I am consistently reminded of Franz Kafka’s The Trial.

Kafka was a self-styled socialist back in the days when socialism was thought to be the next revolutionary movement for the downtrodden masses. It was, of course, controlled opposition created by global elitists attempting to exploit the natural rebellious tendencies of the general public within a false paradigm — using the masses to achieve greater power for a select few, while making the people think that they had won. It is ironic that Kafka would write The Trial, one of the greatest condemnations of totalitarian surveillance society, while at the same time supporting the socialist political vehicle that would eventually be used to implement unrelenting bureaucratic despotism.

The Trial is commonly labeled a “surrealist” piece of fiction, but I wonder now if it was actually far more literal than the academics of the past actually gave it credit for. The problem is that most of America, and much of the Western world, has forgotten what it is like to experience true danger and true suffering. We read about it now and watch movies about it like its entertainment, but few people have the slightest inkling how to deal with the real thing. We don’t even know how to recognize it. Because of this, Americans tend to pay more attention to fictional representations of tyranny rather than legitimate tyranny taking place right under their noses.

With that sad fact in mind, watch this clip from Orson Welles’ cinematic version of The Trial. See if you recognize your own world in this work of “fantasy”:

The main character of The Trial, Josef K., finds his apartment invaded by police in the early hours of the morning. Josef responds with anger but also fear, attempting to defend his character without actually understanding the nature of the police visit. The police answer his questions with more accusatory questions, only later warning him that he is being watched and that he is under arrest. The police do not, however, take him immediately into custody; nor do they ever tell him what his crime was. It is implied, in fact, that Josef is not allowed to know what he is being charged with.

This episode in The Trial has been played out in the real world over and over again, from the Soviet Cheka, to Adolf Hitler’s SS and Brownshirts, to Benito Mussolini’s Organization for Vigilance and Repression of Anti-Fascism (OVRA), to the German Stasi, to Mao Zedong’s Central Security Bureau, etc. In the United States, the culture of surveillance and intrusion has (for now) taken a more subtle approach through the use of technology. We do not yet have agents physically rummaging through all our homes and asking for our papers (though we are not far away from this). Rather, we have the National Security Agency, which rummages through our electronic communications while using our own computer cameras and cellphones to watch us, listen to us and track us. All of this, mind you, is done on a massive scale without warrant.

We have the Authorization for Use of Military Force and the National Defense Authorization Act, which give the President the centralized authority to detain and even kill those Americans designated as “enemy combatants” without trial, without due process and without public oversight.

Our government now uses secret evidence to charge citizens with crimes they are not allowed to discuss with the public on the argument that to do so would “threaten national security.” That’s right; the government can arrest you or assassinate you based on evidence they never have to disclose to you, your family, your lawyer or the citizenry.

In the U.S. today, the kind of establishment terror Kafka imagined is indeed a reality. We are not on the verge of a total surveillance state, we are there. It exists. And if we do not accept that this is our social condition, there may be no historians tomorrow to look back on our era and wonder: “Why didn’t they do something? Why didn’t they fight back?”

The revelations brought by Edward Snowden on the NSA and its PRISM mass surveillance program are still only partially understood by the public. Even many self-proclaimed “cypherpunks” and “techno-warriors” don’t really grasp the pervasiveness of the all-seeing NSA eye. Recent documents leaked to German news source Der Spiegel by Snowden reveal an Internet almost completely dominated by the NSA, where even total encryption would be a mere temporary stopgap, according to tech researcher and journalist Jacob Appelbaum. The TAO group, sanctioned by the NSA, has been using technologies for years that startle even the most avid tech experts. To make matters worse, many of the intrusive mechanisms have been implemented — likely with the direct aid of American software and computer companies.

With NSA access to the backbone or core of the Internet, there is no digital privacy anywhere. The cypherpunks lost the war for the Web a long time ago, and they don’t seem to know it yet.

Beyond the undeniable prevalence of government surveillance, what would our American Kafkaesque experience be like without kangaroo courts designed to defend the criminal establishment instead of the victimized population? The latest Federal court decision on the NSA’s methods is that they are perfectly legal and “necessary” to protect Americans from national security threats. If you are a student of Constitutional law, this decision truly boggles the mind.

One of the most powerful incidents in The Trial is Josef’s speech to his court of accusers. In this moment, Josef argues with concrete logic and impassioned reason. His position is supported with beautifully crafted merit and truth. But what he does not realize is that the court he is trying to convince does not exist to discover the truth. The court is a sideshow, a piece of elaborate theater. The participants are there to make Josef, and the society at large, feel as though justice has been given a fair chance. Josef’s pleas are met with fake cheers, scripted jeers and even engineered distractions. Finally, he comes to understand that the system’s purpose is to destroy him. Everything else is an illusion.

The Web cannot be made free or private from within; our courts cannot be made fair and just from within; neither political party can be forced to represent the common man from within; and our government cannot be made honest or transparent from within. To play games of activism within establishment dominated systems is to play make-believe within a surrealist nightmare; a piece of “Alice in Wonderland” political quackery. Like the audience at Josef’s trial, the elites simply laugh at such activists, or feign applause, while continuing forever with the same corruption and the criminal status quo.

America has long presented itself as the ultimate alternative to the torturous mechanisms of oligarchs; and a long time ago, it was certainly a noble effort. However, our heritage of liberty — the faint memory of it — is all that’s left today.  There is a contingent of men and women in our country, millions of us, that steward over this memory and seek to make whole once again, but the road ahead is long, with struggles beyond all reckoning.

Some people may ask how this could have occurred. How did we become the monster we were supposed to fight against? What happened to the good side and the bad side? Have they become exactly the same?

Those of us who have looked beyond the standardized veil of history know that this is not by accident. Those of us who decipher the surreal know that there is a method to the madness and an ultimate goal. To explain further, I leave you with another piece of fiction, a clip from the British TV series “The Prisoner.” While not written by Kafka, it was definitely inspired by him. It carries a message I would have liked to have warned him about concerning the disturbing path of duality, the mask with multiple faces that tyranny uses to subvert and enslave…

I fully realize that on a good day maybe one hundred people might read these little commentaries I write, and if a thousand did it would be something to celebrate. So when you take into consideration that there are over 300 million people living in this country, I don’t have any illusion that what I am saying is going to make any difference. So, why do I continue? I continue because the things I write about are the things that I feel very strongly about, and the principles I discuss are those which I hold dear. Therefore being the stubborn pig-headed individual that I am, it does not matter whether I am fighting a losing battle, I simply refuse to  just toss in the towel and stop fighting for the things I believe in.

For the most part, the people that inhabit this country, no matter what they say, have forsaken the principles that guided our Founders when they established our Republic. Their loyalty now lies with the political party which most closely aligns with what they believe to be the purpose they’d like their government to serve. The principle of unbridled liberty no longer matters to most anymore.

Did you know that prior to our nations battle for its independence that Thomas Jefferson said, “Our attachment to no nation upon earth should supplant our attachment to liberty.” The very same should still apply towards our government today. Instead of seeking candidates who will best provide the things we think we deserve we should seek out candidates who will best preserve our rights and our liberty. Unfortunately far too many people today simply don’t understand the origin of their rights, and the meaning of liberty.

How many times have you heard someone spout off saying that they know their rights? Whenever I hear that I want to scream out, “Do you?” Often times these same people who claim that they are defending their rights are in reality trampling upon the rights of others. Your rights extend no further than to yourself. You cannot justify that you impose your beliefs upon others, or demand that they surrender any of their rights so that you may feel a bit safer and more secure.

That is the very nature of rights, they belong to each and every person in equal measure and liberty is nothing more than the ability to freely exercise all of your rights as long as your actions do not prohibit others from enjoying the same freedom. In 1791 Thomas Paine wrote a booklet entitled The Rights of Man, wherein he said, “Every generation is equal in rights to generations which preceded it, by the same rule that every individual is born equal in rights with his contemporary.” Therefore, if someone two hundred years ago possessed a right to do a thing than no one today has the authority to pass, or demand that legislation be passed, criminalizing what was once the lawful exercise of a right.

Whenever you hear someone discuss rights it is always preceded by the word civil, as in civil rights. But what are civil rights? Civil rights are those rights which you possess being a member of a civil society. But where do they come from, are they granted to you by the other members of society, or by government?

Going back to Thomas Paine’s booklet we find the following, “Hitherto we have spoken only (and that but in part) of the natural rights of man. We have now to consider the civil rights of man, and to show how the one originates from the other. Man did not enter into society to become worse than he was before, nor to have fewer rights than he had before, but to have those rights better secured. His natural rights are the foundation of all his civil rights.

If our civil rights are therefore based upon our natural rights, then what are our natural rights? Natural rights are those which are man’s according to his existing in a state of nature, they are not dependent upon any law, custom, or beliefs, AND they are unalienable. In the 17th Century, English philosopher John Locke defined them as life, liberty, and estate, or property.

Basically, natural rights are those rights which man would be free to exercise were he in a state of nature. In such a state a man would be free to hunt or forage for his sustenance, to build a home to shelter himself, and more importantly, to defend his property and his rights against attack by others. But since not all men respect the rights of an individual man formed societies, civil compacts, with governments established to guarantee and protect these rights.

That is the basis for which OUR government was established, as stated in both our Declaration of Independence, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…” and our Constitution, “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution….

Yet when one speaks of such things today they are looked upon with scorn by others, considered a threat to their security and the well being of the nation. But as John Adams so perfectly stated, “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.

If someone were to tell you that they intended to steal, or destroy, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution, they would be met with almost universal outrage by the people. Why do people have so much reverence for two parchment documents in display cases, and not have the same reverence for the principles written upon them?

The fact of the matter is that I can’t count but a handful of people who understand the principle of liberty…I mean real liberty. Real liberty is the ability to manage your own affairs without anyone telling you how, as long as in your doing so you don’t restrict anyone else from doing the same.

An example. Say I park my pickup truck in front of your driveway. I have now prohibited you from parking your vehicle in your driveway and have restricted your liberty to freely access any part of your property. But, as long as I do not block access to your property you should not have the right to tell me that I cannot park one, two, three vehicles in front of my house. Hell, if I wanted to I should be able to park an M1 Abrams Battle Tank in front of my house and nobody should be able to tell me otherwise. I’m not hurting anyone by doing so, and as long as the road can handle the weight I should be allowed to do so. Sure I don’t NEED one, but neither do half these ass clowns who buy those fancy 4 Wheel Drive trucks which they never take off road. If I can’t prove that I have a need for a tank then anyone who buys a 4 wheel drive vehicle should prove that they have a need for it as well. That my friends is the difference between liberty and governmental interference in our affairs. Some busy body with a severe case of insecurity or fear decides that someone has something, or is doing something that they don’t like, and they get the government to restrict that person from doing that thing.

It is the same with money as well. I am free to go about earning a living and if by my efforts I accumulate a great deal of wealth then no one has the right to say that I have earned too much and a portion of it should be taken to be given to those who haven’t earned enough to survive. If I decide to donate to charity, then that is my choice. But government mandated charity is theft, plain and simple. Or, as Frederic Bastiat said, “Man can live and satisfy his wants only by ceaseless labor; by the ceaseless application of his faculties to natural resources. This process is the origin of property. But it is also true that a man may live and satisfy his wants by seizing and consuming the products of the labor of others. This process is the origin of plunder.” Call it theft or plunder, it is against the beliefs, or ideals, espoused by the men who wrote those documents that so many revere, without knowing the first thing about what they contain.

So when you tell me that my ideas, my beliefs go against what this country stands for, you had better rethink  your position. It is not I who am an enemy to my country, it is you with your misguided beliefs about what America stands for. It is YOU who have declared war upon the principles contained in our founding documents, not I.

There is something else Frederic Bastiat said that you really need to think about. He also declared that “Each of us has a natural right­from God­to defend his person, his liberty, and his property… If every person has the right to defend­even by force­his person, his liberty, and his property, then it follows that a group of men have the right to organize and support a common force to protect these rights constantly.

You see, we have a right to defend our liberty against any and all who would limit it…and that includes defending it against external enemies and domestic ones. That means against you or our own government when it no longer serves the purpose for which it was established. That principle is enshrined in our Declaration of Independence, “That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

You see, Jefferson, who wrote the Declaration of Independence, was a well read man, having studied the great thinkers and philosophers of ages past. In The Mind of Jefferson, Stuart G. Brown wrote that in a letter to Dr. Benjamin Rush, Jefferson regarded three men to be the “…trinity of the world’s greatest men…” These men being Lord Francis Bacon, Sir Isaac Newton, and the English political philosopher John Locke.

Although Locke was not a Founding Father, it was upon his writings in his Treatise on Civil Government that Jefferson drew many of his beliefs. Locke is not taught in our schools, unless possibly you take a college course which covers his writings. So therefore the average person has no idea what Locke wrote about, or what ideas he believed in. So allow me to share just a sampling of what Locke believed in.

As I have spoken previously of, our civil rights are based upon our natural rights. In Section 18 of Locke’s Treatise, he says, “This makes it lawful for a man to kill a thief, who has not in the least hurt him, nor declared any design upon his life, any farther than, by the use of force, so to get him in his power, as to take away his money, or what he pleases, from him; because using force, where he has no right, to get me into his power, let his pretence be what it will, I have no reason to suppose, that he, who would take away my liberty, would not, when he had me in his power, take away every thing else…

In his treatise The Law, Bastiat declares that “Law is solely the organization of the individual right of self-defense which existed before law was formalized. Law is justice.” Therefore, if the law is turned on its head and opposes the purpose for which it was established, those who enforce the law become criminals and may be opposed using any methods necessary to preserve your liberty. These were the beliefs held by our Founders, and they are the beliefs that have been abandoned by society today.

In a letter to the Boston Gazette in 1763 John Adams wrote, “Resistance to sudden violence, for the preservation not only of my person, my limbs, and life, but of my property, is an indisputable right of nature which I have never surrendered to the public by the compact of society, and which perhaps, I could not surrender if I would.

Years later, in his Letters from the Federal Farmer, Richard Henry Lee would write, “To preserve liberty it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.” That certainly sounds to me like Mr. Lee felt that it was our right to rise up and use force against any who would attempt to take away our liberty.
These beliefs are nothing new. Thousands of years ago Marcus Tullius Cicero wrote, “There exists a law, not written down anywhere but inborn in our hearts; a law which comes to us not by training or custom or reading but by derivation and absorption and adoption from nature itself; a law which has come to us not from theory but from practice, not by instruction but by natural intuition. I refer to the law which lays it down that, if our lives are endangered by plots or violence or armed robbers or enemies, any and every method of protecting ourselves is morally right.

But, as Samuel Adams wrote in 1775, “No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.

Frederick Douglass, the great orator and abolitionist, once said, “Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.” Although he was primarily speaking of slavery, the principle can be applied to any who are oppressed, including those oppressed by their own government.

So, tell me again who is the enemy to their country, to the beliefs it was founded upon? I suppose Orwell was right though when he said, “In a time of universal deceit – telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

But don’t you dare tell me that I hate my country, or that I am an enemy to all that America stands for. As H.L. Mencken once said, “The notion that a radical is one who hates his country is naive and usually idiotic. He is, more likely, one who likes his country more than the rest of us, and is thus more disturbed than the rest of us when he sees it debauched. He is not a bad citizen turning to crime; he is a good citizen driven to despair.” I only defend all that I hold dear.

WE ARE NOT SUBJECTS

The unveiling of the dictatorial debacle that is Obamacare absolutely flabbergasts me. It is stunning on so many levels, but the most shocking aspect of it for me is watching millions of free Americans stand idly by while this man, his minions in Congress and his cheerleaders in the press systematically dismantle our Constitution, steal our money, and crush our freedoms.

The President, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid (with no small help from Justice John Roberts) take away our health care – and we allow it. They take away our insurance – and we allow it. They take away our doctors – and we allow it. They charge us thousands of dollars more a year – and we allow it. They make legal products illegal – and we allow it. They cripple our businesses – and we allow it. They announce by fiat that we must ignore our most deeply held beliefs – and we allow it.

Where is your spine, America?

Yes, I know people are complaining. I read the news on the internet. I read blogs. I have a Twitter feed. So what? People in the Soviet Union complained. People in Cuba complain. People in China complain (quietly). Complaining isn’t the same thing as doing anything about it. In fact, much of the complaining that we hear sounds like resignation: Wow. This sucks. Oh well, this is the way things are. Too bad.

Perhaps you need reminding of a few important facts. Here goes:

1. The President is not a king. Barack Obama does not behave like a President, an elected official, someone who realizes that he works for us. He behaves like a king, a dictator – someone who believes that his own pronouncements have the force of law and who thinks he can dispense with the law’s enforcement when he deigns to do so. And those of us who object? How dare we? Racists!

And while he moves steadily “forward” with his plans to “fundamentally transform” the greatest country in human history, he distracts people with cheap, meaningless trivialities, like “free birth control pills”!  In fact, let’s face it: this administration’s odd obsession with sex in general – Birth control! Abortion! Sterilization! Gay guys who play basketball! – is just plain weird. Since when did the leader of the free world care so much about how people have sex, who they have it with and what meds they use when they have it? Does he have nothing more important to concern himself with?

2. It isn’t just a failed software program; it is a failed philosophy. People are marveling that Healthcare.gov was such a spectacular failure. Well, if one is only interested in it as a product launch, I’ve explained some of the reasons for that here. But the larger point is that it isn’t a software failure or even a product failure; it is a philosophy failure.

I have said this before: Obama is not a centrist; he is a central planner. And this – all of it: the disastrous computer program, the hundreds of millions of dollars wasted, the lies, the manipulation of public opinion, the theft of the public’s money and property and freedom (read insurance, and premiums, and doctors) – IS what central planning looks like.

The central premise of central planning is that a handful of wunderkinds with your best interests at heart (yeah, right) know better than you what’s good for you. The failure of such a premise and the misery it causes have been clear from the dawn of humanity. Kings and congressmen, dictators and Dear Leaders, potentates, princes and presidents can all fall prey to the same imperial impulses: “we know what is good the ‘the people.’

And they are always wrong.

There is a reason that the only times communism has really been tried have been after wars, revolutions or coups d’état. You have to have complete chaos for people to be willing to accept the garbage that centralized planning produces. Take the Soviet Union for example. After two wars, famine and the collapse of the Romanov dynasty why wouldn’t people wait in line for hours to buy size 10 shoes? Or settle for the gray matter that passed for meat in the grocery stores?

But communism’s watered-down cousin, socialism, isn’t much better. Ask the Venezuelans who cannot get toilet paper. Toilet paper. Viva la Revolución!

Contrary to what so many who believe in a “living Constitution” say, the Founding Fathers absolutely understood this. That is why the Constitution was set up to limit government power. (Memo to the President: the drafters of the Constitution deliberately didn’t say “what government had to do on your behalf.”) They understood that that was the path to folly, fear, and famine.)

3. Obama is deceitful. Just as the collapse of the computer program should not surprise anyone, neither should we be shocked that the President lied about his healthcare plan. Have any of you been paying attention over the past few years? Obama has made no secret of his motivations or his methods. The philosophies which inspire him espouse deceit and other vicious tactics. (Don’t take my word for it: read Saul Alinsky.) Obama infamously told reporter Richard Wolffe, “You know, I actually believe my own bullshit.” He has refused to be forthcoming about his past (where are his academic records?). His own pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, told author Ed Klein, that Obama said to him, “You know what your problem is? You have to tell the truth.”

Did Obama lie when he said dozens of times, “If you like your plan, you can keep it. Period!”? Of course he did. That’s what he does.

4. The media is responsible. And had the media been doing their jobs, we would have known a lot of this much, much earlier.

The press is charged with the sacred responsibility of protecting the people from the excesses of government. Our press has been complicit, incompetent, or corrupt. Had they vetted this man in 2008, as they would have a Republican candidate, we would have known far more about him than we do, even now. Had they pressed for more details about Obamacare, Congress’ feet would have been held to the fire. Had they done their jobs about Eric Holder, Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the IRS scandal, NSA spying – or any of the other myriad betrayals of the public trust that this administration has committed, Obama would likely have lost his 2012 reelection campaign. (A fact that even The Washington Post has tacitly acknowledged. Well done, fellas! Happy now?)

Instead, they turned a blind eye, even when they knew he was lying, abusing power, disregarding the limits of the Constitution. It was only when he began to spy on them and when the lies were so blatant that the lowest of low-information voters could figure it out that they realized they had to report on it. (Even in the face of blatant, deliberate and repeated lies, The New York Times has the audacity to tell us that the President “misspoke.”) They have betrayed us, abandoned us and deceived us.

5. Ted Cruz was right. So was Sarah Palin. The computer program is a disaster. The insurance exchanges are a disaster. What’s left? The healthcare system itself. And this, of necessity, will be a disaster, too.

Millions of people have lost their individual insurance plans. In 2015, millions more will lose their employer-provided coverage (a fact which the Obama administration also knew, and admitted elsewhere).

The exorbitant additional costs that Obamacare has foisted on unsuspecting Americans are all part of a plan of wealth confiscation and redistribution. That is bad enough. But it will not end there.

When the numbers of people into the system and the corresponding demand for care vastly exceed the cost projections (and they will, make no mistake), then the rationing will start. Not only choice at that point, but quality and care itself will go down the tubes. And then will come the decisions made by the Independent Payment Advisory Board about what care will be covered (read “paid for”) and what will not.

That’s just a death panel, put politely. In fact, progressives are already greasing the wheels for acceptance of that miserable reality as well. They’re spreading the lie that it will be about the ability of the dying to refuse unwanted or unhelpful care. Don’t fall for that one, either. It will be about the deaths that inevitably result from decisions made by people other than the patients, their families, and their physicians. (Perhaps it’s helpful to think of their assurances this way: “If you like your end-of-life care, you can keep your end-of-life-care.”)

6. We are not SUBJECTS. (or, Nice Try, the Tea Party Isn’t Going Away). We have tolerated these incursions into our lives and livelihoods too long already. There is no end to the insatiable demand “progressives” have to remake us in their image. Today it is our insurance, our businesses, our doctors, our health care. Tomorrow some new crusade will be announced that enables them to take over other aspects of our formerly free lives.

I will say it again: WE ARE NOT SUBJECTS. Not only is the Tea Party right on the fiscal issues, but it appears that they are more relevant than ever. We fought a war once to prove we did not want to be the subjects of a king and the Boston Tea Party was just a taste of the larger conflict to come. If some people missed that lesson in history class we can give them a refresher.

The 2014 elections are a good place to start. Call your representative, your senator, your candidate and tell them: “We are not subjects. You work for us. And if the word “REPEAL” isn’t front and center in your campaign, we won’t vote for you. Period.”

There must be something wrong with me, because I dearly love a woman with balls! However, as an attorney Ms. Hollis is remiss if she really believes anything will be accomplished by the voting process. That possibility has been left behind every since the Federal Reserve performed their silent coup d’état, and gained control of our federal government, then buried us in debt and sold us off to International Corporations, and other Nations. Nothing weakens a Nation as surely as dividing it up in small pieces, by first dividing the people, then infiltrating their government with creatures that have no morals.

After profound analysis I’ve decided that our retarded Republican Socialist actually want a police state; to gain protection from the working class Democrats that want five hundred channels of [PROFESSIONAL ?] wrestling and NASCAR on the cable, beer, porn, easy sex and two weeks a year at Disney World. They don’t read much, largely because of honest inability, and count on their fingers, up to maybe six. They’d be perfectly happy to have storm troopers on every corner, as Uzis and flack jackets lend drama to lives that don’t have any intellectual pursuits. This deplorable situation is the result of a government controlled education that brain drains our citizens before they reach puberty, and destroys interest in any higher thoughts than self gratification, and media addiction. Ever wonder who they voted for?

Cops use armored military vehicles to deliver shock and awe during routine police work

 As U.S. military operations wind down overseas, some of that surplus hardware has been used to equip cash-strapped local police departments.

Police and sheriff’s departments have been given at least 165 mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles since this summer, according to a recentWashington Post analysis.

The vehicles cost about $500,000 at the height of the Iraq war, but they’ve been donated or sold for about $2,000 or $3,000 to local law enforcement agencies as part of a national military surplus program.

“The military was pretty much handing them out to the different cities and I put in the application for it, and we got pushed through due to the violence in the city we have here,” said Officer Keith Holmes, of the Fort Pierce, Florida, police department.

The relatively small coastal city ranked 56th last year in gun violence, with 150 shootings and about 42,000 residents, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

“They brought this back from Afghanistan and now it’s in Fort Pierce for officer rescues, search warrants, things like that that an officer would need protection,” Holmes said.

Other cities are using the hulking armored vehicles for similar purposes – largely to deliver shock and awe during routine business or during standoffs.

“It’s armored. It’s heavy. It’s intimidating. And it’s free,” said Sheriff Craig Apple, of Albany County, New York.

The vehicles are somewhat impractical for domestic police use, however, because they’re too big to travel on some bridges and roads and get just 5 miles per gallon.

Civil liberties watchdogs have also expressed concern about the increasing militarization of domestic law enforcement agencies.

“One of our concerns with this is it has a tendency to escalate violence,” said Kara Dansky, senior counsel for the ACLU Center for Justice.

The “wars” on drugs and terrorism have blurred the lines between police officers and soldiers, said an ACLU official in Ohio.

“Traditionally, the roles of police and the roles of military have been very different — and for good reason,” said Shakyra Diaz, policy director of the state’s ACLU chapter. “We cannot have our police looking at members of the community as military combatants.”

An Associated Press investigation found that most of the $4.2 billion in military surplus equipment distributed to law enforcement agencies since 1990 had gone to police and sheriff’s departments in rural areas with few officers and little crime.

“I agree to a certain extent it’s overkill, but for the cost, for $2,000, yes, it’s what we need,” said Holmes, of Fort Pierce police.

Never before has it been so important to have independent, honest voices and sources of information. We are – as a society – inundated and overwhelmed with a flood of information from a wide array of sources, but these sources of information, by and large, serve the powerful interests and individuals that own them. The main sources of information, for both public and official consumption, include the mainstream media, alternative media, academia and think tanks.

The mainstream media is the most obvious in its inherent bias and manipulation. The mainstream media is owned directly by large multinational corporations, and through their boards of directors are connected with a plethora of other major global corporations and elite interests. An example of these connections can be seen through the board of Time Warner.

Time Warner owns Time Magazine, HBO, Warner Bros., and CNN, among many others. The board of directors includes individuals past or presently affiliated with: the Council on Foreign Relations, the IMF, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Warburg Pincus, Phillip Morris, and AMR Corporation, among many others.

Two of the most “esteemed” sources of news in the U.S. are the New York Times (referred to as “the paper of record”) and the Washington Post. The New York Times has on its board people who are past or presently affiliated with: Schering-Plough International (pharmaceuticals), the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Chevron Corporation, Wesco Financial Corporation, Kohlberg & Company, The Charles Schwab Corporation, eBay Inc., Xerox, IBM, Ford Motor Company, Eli Lilly & Company, among others. Hardly a bastion of impartiality.

And the same could be said for the Washington Post, which has on its board: Lee Bollinger, the President of Columbia University and Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York; Warren Buffett, billionaire financial investor, Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway; and individuals associated with (past or presently): the Coca-Cola Company, New York University, Conservation International, the Council on Foreign Relations, Xerox, Catalyst, Johnson & Johnson, Target Corporation, RAND Corporation, General Motors, and the Business Council, among others.

It is also important to address how the mainstream media is intertwined, often covertly and secretly, with the government. Carl Bernstein, one of the two Washington Post reporters who covered the Watergate scandal, revealed that there were over 400 American journalists who had “secretly carried out assignments for the Central Intelligence Agency.” Interestingly, “the use of journalists has been among the most productive means of intelligence-gathering employed by the CIA.” Among organizations which cooperated with the CIA were the “American Broadcasting Company, the National Broadcasting Company, the Associated Press, United Press International, Reuters, Hearst Newspapers, Scripps-Howard, Newsweek magazine, the Mutual Broadcasting System, the Miami Herald and the old Saturday Evening Post and New York Herald-Tribune.”

By far the most valuable of these associations, according to CIA officials, have been with the New York Times, CBS and Time Inc. The CIA even ran a training program “to teach its agents to be journalists,” who were “then placed in major news organizations with help from management.”

These types of relationships have continued in the decades since, although perhaps more covertly and quietly than before. For example, it was revealed in 2000 that during the NATO bombing of Kosovo, “several officers from the US Army’s 4th Psychological Operations (PSYOPS) Group at Ft. Bragg worked in the news division at CNN’s Atlanta headquarters.” This same Army Psyop outfit had “planted stories in the U.S. media supporting the Reagan Administration’s Central America policies,” which was described by the Miami Herald as a “vast psychological warfare operation of the kind the military conducts to influence a population in enemy territory.” These Army PSYOP officers also worked at National Public Radio (NPR) at the same time. The US military has, in fact, had a strong relationship with CNN.

In 2008, it was reported that the Pentagon ran a major propaganda campaign by using retired Generals and former Pentagon officials to present a good picture of the administration’s war-time policies. The program started in the lead-up to the Iraq War in 2003 and continued into 2009. These officials, presented as “military analysts”, regurgitate government talking points and often sit on the boards of military contractors, thus having a vested interest in the subjects they are brought on to “analyze.”

In 2013, Public Accountability reported:

During the public debate around the question of whether to attack Syria, Stephen Hadley, former national security adviser to George W. Bush, made a series of high-profile media appearances. Hadley argued strenuously for military intervention in appearances on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and Bloomberg TV, and authored a Washington Post op-ed headlined “To stop Iran, Obama must enforce red lines with Assad.”

In each case, Hadley’s audience was not informed that he serves as a director of Raytheon, the weapons manufacturer that makes the Tomahawk cruise missiles that were widely cited as a weapon of choice in a potential strike against Syria. Hadley earns $128,500 in annual cash compensation from the company and chairs its public affairs committee. He also owns 11,477 shares of Raytheon stock, which traded at all-time highs during the Syria debate ($77.65 on August 23, making Hadley’s share’s worth $891,189). Despite this financial stake, Hadley was presented to his audience as an experienced, independent national security expert.

The major philanthropic foundations in the United States have often used their enormous wealth to co-opt voices of dissent and movements of resistance into channels that are safe for the powers that be. As McGeorge Bundy, former President of the Ford Foundation once said, “Everything the Foundation does is to make the world safe for Capitalism.”

Examples of this include philanthropies like the Rockefeller Foundation, Ford Foundation and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation providing immense financial and organizational support to Non-Governmental Organizations. Furthermore, the alternative media are often funded by these same foundations, which has the effect of influencing the direction of coverage as well as the stifling of critical analysis.
